Question about mana reserve passive

the reduced cost do work i think, the auras cost less to initially CAST but the reserve is the same.

how the hell is that supposed to work xD

You cast the aura for 30 mana but at the same time it reserves 40 mana thus making you pay the 40 mana anyway? sound fishy^^

It's semantics of the game system.

It's also easy to find out for yourself:

Step 1:
Burn ALL your mana spamming a skill in the middle of nowhere.
Step 2:
Try to activate your aura.

Doesn't work, does it? Rather than just put the "silver meter" covering the top of your manabar as a reservation, it WONT allow you to activate teh aura... until you have an available amount of mana >= the reservation cost.

The Q-bonus of Reduced Mana (and the passive nodes as well), I believe, will allow you to "cast" that aura earlier... like, if it reserves 100 mana, but you have 20% reduction to casting cost, you can "turn it on" when you have only 80.

That said, I believe the game also has a check to make sure you cannot reserve more than 100% of your mana, so don't try and finagle your way around the cap ;p

Now, is this of any real use to anyone? Probably not. But it does provide some insight to game mechanics.
#1 rule of official forum boards of every video game ever: use the forums to relay info, gather suggestions, or the rare narrow-focused Poll; but NEVER as "feedback".

#2 rule: Never say the #1 rule in an official capacity. Let some guy on the forums say it, leaving yourself plausible deniability.

Auras do not have a mana cost, they have a reservation. They are thus not affected by anything that specifically reduces costs, but are affected by things that reduce reservation.

Actually it is somewhat ambiguous since the Reduced Mana gem specifically says "Mana Cost Multiplier: xx%". I know it works on both, but with the standard statement that "They are thus not affected by anything that specifically reduces costs", I can see how some people could get confused.

Anyone who thinks “the customer is always right” never worked in tech support.
