Leather and Steel 2 questions
I've searched for threads related to this topic but have come up with nothing so I figure I'll ask here.
I'll break this down into 2 separate questions. 1: The Leather and steel passive tree node states "24% increased Evasion rating and Armour". I have looked over threads that go over how the leather and steel nodes affect evasion-only gear, but I would like to know how does leather and steel affect armor/evasion hybrid gear? Say I have a chest that gives 100 to armor and 100 to evasion. If I take the 24% leather and steel node, does that make the +100 to armor on the gear actually +124 and the +100 to evasion on the gear actually +124, thus making the gear +124 armor/+124 evasion? Or is the bonus just applied once to either the armor or the evasion? Or +12% to both for a total of +24%? 2: How does this bonus work with the Iron reflexes keystone in this particular case? I've already read over threads the showcase how Iron reflexes and Leather and Steel work with evasion armor but I haven't seen how it works with hybrid armor. Thanks for the consideration. I need to know which path to take on my duelist to get the most survivability, efficiency and least wasted nodes, just so you all know where I'm coming from. 1: The armor will give both 124 Ar/Eva, so you're right here.
2: Same math as in 1) (except that any +armor nodes will affect eva as well), your evasion will just be converted, giving you a total of 248 armor. The formula stays the same, doesn't matter if it's hybrid gear or not Armor= AR * (1 + increased armor + increased armor/eva) + EVA * (1 + increased eva + increased armor + increased armor/eva) Sorry Exile, but your loot is in another dungeon!

Thanks for the fast reply! Yes I was pretty sure I had the first part right, the second question is where I started having trouble because of all the confusion between the interaction of leather and steel and iron reflexes. So it seems if I wear hybrid armor and get leather and steel + Iron reflexes I can indeed fully benefit from said interaction between the two. That is to say that the +24% bonus to both would behave like +48% only to armor. However if I were to use evasion only gear, the leather and steel would only apply once like Mark GGG said.

While Leather and Steel applies "twice" to Armor/Evasion gear (once to the Armor, once to the Evasion), it's also to a lower base value.
Additionally, you will always have some amount of Increased Evasion from Dex, which doesn't apply to your Armor value. Mostly important late-game though; you won't really notice in Normal and Cruel. Basically, when looking at new armors, Evasion>Armor a small bit, and total value is key. 300 Evasion > 300 Armor > 135 Armor/Evasion 300 Evasion > 150 Armor/Evasion > 300 Armor Dernière édition par Vipermagi#0984, le 6 avr. 2013 à 08:37:31

"That's not how it works. When you have leather and steel and use hybrid gear with iron reflexes it only increases the armor by 24%. There's a post directly above yours that tells how it works. It NEVER applies twice. To anything. There is no bonus in game that you can get double from. IGN - PlutoChthon, Talvathir

It's confusing.
Basically if u have Iron Reflexes and Leather and Steel and 100armor and 100evasion U'll get: 124 armor 124 evasion Total armor: 248 The 124 invasion WILL NOT get increased by Armor and Steel again after getting turned into armor. |

Iron Reflexes "Converts all Evasion rating to Armor"
Notice the wording. Effectively it turns "Total Armor" into "Base Armor+Base Evasion" They're still calculated separately then summed. Once calculated they aren't recalculated. I want to see a similar node that turns all armor into evasion personally. Would be awesome for Acrobatics users. " Not really. Acrobatics would make your armour zero before it got converted. Your zero armour would become zero extra evasion. The same sort of thing happens with 'Eldritch Battery' and Acrobatics. All your zero energy shield gets converted in to mana. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

" it happens after base values sum, and is subject to all modifires down the line. acrobatics multiplies armor and ES by 0. So resulting mana from eldrich battery with acrobatics is 0. Btw converting armor to evasion with acrobatics is pointless for the same reason you get 0 extra evasion. |
