witch teleport!

You can speed up Lightning Warp by getting more movespeed. It's capped at your normal movespeed so that you can't use it to trivialize normal areas and so that PvP becomes a possibility.

PvP happened in D2 with teleport spam. Was really fast paced actually. In fact the problem I have noticed with PvP in PoE is that you can out run your opponent and there is nothing they can do about it. With teleport you add a resource to being able to run away, which is mana.

There are plenty of options. Flasks, phase run, speed nodes, fast shoes.

We also only tried combat at low levels. Thats like killing each other at lvls 9-15 in diablo. Not so fast if you ask me. Can't jump into too many conclusions until pvp has been thoroughly tested.

PvP also happened in D2 without teleport spam in the pre-Enigma world. After Enigma, EVERYONE had to have Enigma, so it became an extremely expensive gear check. Personally I thought that PvP without teleport was much more fun (paladin duels especially due to the really cool meta-builds).

Being able to outrun your opponent is a good thing for PoE, as the PvP currently being talked about is open world and not every encounter should end with one or the other dead.

EDIT: Also I'm aware that there were amulets/staves with teleport charges on them pre-Enigma, but a weapon switch or giving up a very valuable slot made it less desirable (plus a pain in the ass to deal with repair costs). Enigma had the benefit of being silly useful and extremely powerful. Anyway...

Well it's not quite what you're asking for, but you can always give your witch Leap Slam. :)
Personally, I would rather have an instant teleport that can go through walls on a 5 minute cooldown than have lightning warp. Know that I won't get that, I have learned to use lightning warp effectively and enjoy it.

Saneless you need to realize that in this game there would be no such thing as a 'witch teleport'.

If you put in a teleport skill, any character can use it.

A straight D2 style teleport is clearly not going to happen and is a bad idea. A skill that everyone automatically must use in PvP or for farming is not going to add to the game in a good way.

GGG apparently doesn't want to use cooldowns to balance abilities (I disagree with throwing that dev tool away, but that is another huge discusssion entirely), so that's out.

So you're left with either a massive mana cost (like 300 or something), or some functionality nerfs (aka lightning warp).

Let's make lightning warp not crash my entire party before we get too crazy with more teleports, deal? :)

I believe cool downs for certain skills are in the works, or at least being considered, flicker strike for example.

i dont really see how it makes anything too powerful, its strictly for movement, take away the damage effect and make it faster. not every class had it in D2 and all it really opens up is the ability to rush players or to farm slightly easier.

Everybody in D2 had enigma for telport, if you didn't have it, it's cause you were poor.
Actually my only complaint is that some walls it is possible to lightning warp over, but some walls not. I can understand that you don't want to let people warp in the dungeons to allow farmrunning. But when you're outside and you can warp through cliffs ok, then in couple maps later there is a slightly different looking cliff and you can't warp through it. Why is that?

Here's an easy place you can try this. Prisoner's gate = You can warp through the things, the coves = no warping for you sucka.
