Bind spell to mousewheel up or mousewheel down (scroll)

No one is asking for more skill slots. What we want is to be able to map our Q W E R T skills to MOUSWHEELUP and MOUSEWHEELDOWN.
I already do this using the software that came with my mouse. wheel up activates one aura, mouse down another aura. then the 6 thumb buttons on the side are the QWERT keys plus another for Shift+RMB. there are also 4 buttons on top (2 on each side) I have mapped to 2345. I have to press 1 manually on the keyboard :( for a total of 13 mappable keys.

The software allows for multiple profiles, 1 for normal use, 2 for PoE, 3 for Torchlight, etc.
.....And that's all I have to say about that.

Workarounds demanding of the user are not an acceptable solution.

Oh really?

I'd rather see the mouse wheel cycle through bind sets then active an ability.

Even if there are only two sets you can choose from it would help a lot by allowing people to put abilities they don't active constantly like auras on a second set.

With the limited key binds we have right now my witch can't even use her basic wand attack because I gave up its key bind for something more important.

I do sometimes wish there were more skill slots available.

All keys are taken by melee skills & Fire Trap.

RMB is also melee skill (Cleave).

MMB is left for a totem, and sometimes I wish I could Ctrl +MMB or Shift +MMB to cast different totems, because there is plenty enough sockets to use more than one.

So I wish it was possible to SHIFT / CONTROL + Click something in the skill popup panel, effectively allowing to use up to 3 skills for MMB and RMB.

Could even work with keys, and when you press Shift or Control the game could switch the skill icon temporarily until you release the key so it's obvious how it was setup.

I honestly have no issue with opening up as many options as possible as far as allowing players to rebind keys and the like. Personally though I believe the limited number of actual skill slots is actually important, otherwise what is the down side to using every passive your spec has available to it? (Worst case you just spam mana potions when you have to use spells, after all)
The OP's point was not to ask for more skill slots and skill bars, I think.
FYI:
I've just heard from GGG that there are plans to enhance the number of keys and buttons that can be bound to the QWERT abilities, which is great news!
Indeed!

Any indication that the mousewheel up/down will be assignable as keys?
Yes, that was the focus of the inquiry that led to this information. :)

Ditto.

I don't think I'm derailing, it's just that there are many threads opened for similar things I don't think it hurts to chime in or being back some things that are related.

So again, for me it would rock to be able to CTRL or SHIFT + click a skill in the panel, and trigger it similarly later.

Why?

For example lately I have 6 melee skills, normal attack and a totem. But everytime I zone, my Hatred aura disappears. So each time I zone I have to open the panel, selected hatred, cast it, then re-select whatever I had before.

Since auras can stack, I think we have the proof right there that the number of skill slots does not necessarily have to correespond to the skills that are bindable.
