[3.21] ShakCentral's Cold DoT Elementalist For Everyone

Its 36% nerf. As part of a triple gem combo with a Vaal Cold Snap on top it is like 5% if my math is not wrong. Still very fine and no reason to cry about it.

Also... Quality on Wintertide Brand, just saying ;)

Elemental weakness nerf + vortex nerf to hit damage but mostly QOL is harsh. No auto-cast is an insane debuff. More aoe, better clear for the builds other than occultist. To be clear, the nerf is on the hit damage, not the DoT.

Maybe the alternate gems fix the autocast issue, we’ll have to see.

I’ve been playing this build for many leagues and after an uninterrupted series of small debuffs I feel it may be time to go another route this league.

Indeed it's on the hit damage. The non-instant change is pretty significant though. I don't understand why they did that.

I also use a lot of alt quality gems which are now gone. All that time getting 21/20 anomalous vortex... Nerfs to curses too.

Let's hope there is some interesting new version of vortex.

Well, officially no instant Vortex. Cold DoT is pretty much gone.

for anyone wanting hes old low life wintertide brand tree i kinda sorted it a bit u need to go primalist and get a charm with mana reservation efficiency u have to set up ur defiance banner so its NOT linked to arrogance in the shield.

regards for the wierd vortex change dont know what GGG was thinking it still kinda works but personally im going cold snap to help on bosses and elites.

all in all this build still works bit more janky cause cold snap or vortex cast times but ye still works.

replace vortex with coldsnap if u want

charm can be expensive depending how much mana efficiency is on it but 4-7% should be enough ish.

Just started playing this build after taking a few years off POE, and then I read these comments. Sucks, I was looking forward to pushing into late game, but not sure it's worth the time investment now with all the nerfs.

I want to revive this thread and build. This is what I've got so far. I'm only level 81 on the character right now, and it's performing okay, but this is pretty mediocre gear for the most part, just need to straighten out some of the resistances which shouldn't be too bad.

Obviously Wintertide should be at least increased by 100% with the lack of inclusion of Winter's End debuff in PoB.

Also, hit rate is too low, but should be increasable again with different Want, gloves, and ring.

Instead of Shyvronne's I've decided to use the Traitor keystone with charges gained in local notables. I have 100% uptime for Taste of Hate and Coruscating Elixir. Once both Vaal Discipline and Vaal Cold Snap are up, Vaal Cold Snap is readily available closely after soul prevention. No need for Vortex in almost all cases as Vaal Cold Snap being readily available ends up much better.

The general mechanics work really well and smooth in my opinion, my only problem currently is I haven't ironed out leveling order for everything. I'm at tier 10 maps currently with this build and my damage is a bit low. Probably because I haven't tackled the clusters yet which are a big part of the damage. But overall I feel this maintains the initial idea of Wintertide Brand DOT character. Tanky, with good and safe DOTs. Also would really look to get Elder gloves with exalted Onslaught mod for move speed between packs.
