ES leech, am I missing something?

I read through the Patch notes and everything else I could find. ES leech does not appear to work, is there a mechanic or something I missed? I have put 2 points into the leech wheel at Ethereal Leech. Please help.

Probably need to do more damage. You need to do enough damage to get at least 1 full ES leeched.

Which skill(s) are you using to deal damage?

just remember, things like traps and totems do not leech to you, and you spells require hitting, so most chaos spells are unable to leech

Damage over time doesn't leech.

I'm going to spec out of it completely.
I'm self casting frost-bolt + Ice Nova, and I had around 2-3% ES leech total with 1.5k ES, and decent DPS. If I shatter an big pack of mobs, then I can barely see my ES go up to the point where I was uncertain if it was working. Would love to hear peoples experience with ES leech as well. |

" There's your problem. 3% of 1500 == 45. 45 es per second. You need WAY MORE ES. |

You need more damage and a higher max energy shield. It won’t be noticable with that small amount of ES.

" That's not how it works. It is 3% of your damage, then capped to a certain percentage per second of your total ES, which i think was 10% per second baseline or something along those lines. |
