Besides lacerate, what skill looks like long range slashing wave?

Freezing pulse, indeed it looks better than reave in term of effect.

But the casting animation and shattering effect is not what I want :P
Perhaps can fix the casting animation by using trigger support?

Is there any vertical wave skill?

I know of only one thing that looks like a vertical wave and that'd be storm cascade, which is a skill granted by that one harbinger exclusive sword. Which, by the way, is a very good choice for a hybrid attack/spell character, but it might be too expensive.

Some other things:
Demonic reave makes reave look much better
Cleave could be worth a try for another horizontal attack, though the range is short
Frost blades could be used for a thrusting attack...
...and ice crash if you just want to lay waste to an area
You can get rid of shatters caused by frost pulse if you support it with elemental focus. Which also boosts the damage. Convenient.
