What ACTUALLY helps Spectral Shield Throw...
Hi all, ive been through multiple pages looking for answers and its a fuster cluck of contradictory garbage which in the end is not helpful so im asking GGG for some REAL answers.
1) What passives can I take to help SST, and what ones add what? 2) What Pref & Affix should I look for, and what ones add what? 3) What skills from main hand item helps SST, and what ones add what? 4) What support gems change SST mechanics, and what ones add what? 5) What jewel skills help SST, and what ones add what? If im going to continue with my SST character, stumbling in the dark trying to playtest stuff to see if it makes any difference, then I really need some DEFINITIVE answers so I dont waste my time and in the end just delete my toon, which I have never ever done yet... These questions are aimed at people who absolutely know the answers, ive seen dozens of threads from "yeah I know this" posters that turn out in the next thread to be BS, so if you arent positive please dont answer, we dont need another thread full of hearsay !! It's an attack projectile that does base phys damage. It gets a boost to crit chance from (base) es on shield, and added flat phys damage based on (base) armour/evasion on shield. It has a crit chance and attack speed. It's not melee, or spell, and it doesn't use a weapon.
That's all the info you need to know to work it out. Don't rely on other people to explain it if you don't believe them. Instead, just work it out for yourself. This is why im asking these questions, youve answered nothing here...
What passives help these skills? Should I just randomly take passives I think might effect SST? So what support gems help my "attack projectile"? Does adding armour via Haku bench add damage? Do you get it, I want help not basic stuff I already know... Thanks but its not helpful. KKNZ |

" Global phys damage will help the phys damage. Crit chance mods will help your crit. Spell crit chance node won't though. Nor will bow crit nodes etc... Elemental damage mods will help if you are dealing elemental damage. Eg by converting damage. Nodes that give you a bonus while wearing a shield will help, depending on the bonus. Nodes that give bonus melee damage will not help since its not melee. Dual weilding nodes won't help since you're not dual wielding. Etc... Same goes for mods on gear or jewels etc... " No. You should plan it out. " Look at the keywords and see. If there's any you're not sure of, post here and people can answer. If you want advice on which gems would be best for your build, then post your build info here so we can give good advice. "Yes. All mods on your shield which increase armour will help the damage. Thank you for all your tips and help here, its good to see a pro poster that took my answer as feedback and not an attack on your manhood and came back with treasures to share. I will use your info well Dudio, it has helped a good few of my worries and I hope other peoples too, because as i see it many people are lost with SST so far and thats not good for a game of PoE's pedigree. The "physical attack damage while holding a shield" nodes will help SST damage.
The "increased defenses from equipped shield" and "increased armour" nodes are good, but they are only useful for defense. They don't increase the damage for SST. The physical attack damage leached as life nodes will work fine with SST. You spend quite a bit for that north endurance charge. You might as well get the devotion cluster while you're there. (better than the 5% life nodes you've allocated elsewhere - although the 5% ones are worth keeping too.) You don't have that much accuracy, and you don't have crit, so why not drop the accuracy ascendancy node and get RT instead? Maybe you could drop Proficiency as well in that case. You can drop one of the travel armour nodes by 'armour mastery' since you don't need it to path anywhere. Consider the 'Cloth and Chain' notable, and the 'life regen per endurance charge' passive, since they give decent boosts in comparison to normal nodes for your build. Hard Knocks and Proficiency are nice while levelling, but they aren't worth 3 skill points in an end game build. Just roll some stats on gear (eg amulet) and save 3 points. If you do want to keep them, consider pathing past the Soul of Steel Cluster too, since the extra phys dmg reduction it gives is really nice for your build. You don't have many chance to bleed nodes, so you should either pick up some more, or, drop Crimson Dance. Iron Grip will help SST damage. You are 2 steps away from some Jewel sockets. Jewels are almost always worth 2 passive points. If you path to the left above Golem's blood instead of to the right, you could get the two '12% phys attack damage while holding a shield' nodes, and drop the two '10% projectile damage' nodes. They also make your bleeding better too. Or, just pick up those 12% nodes as well if you really want to keep the 10% ones too. Here's a variation of your first tree with some of the things dudiobugtron mentioned, plus some changes in leech. I've only looked at your tree, not gear, gems, etc. This gives you the option of Iron Reflexes and Point Blank. On Defiance vs Fury Bolts, the projectile nodes might be better then the phys damage nodes, depending on how much non-phys you have. http://poeurl.com/bOXV You lost some int and mana reduction from Versatility, but that should be easy to replace.
