Why is Fortify on movement gem a popular choice rather than in 6L
what am i missing here?
I thought 20% damage reduction from fortify is pretty good to have up all the time? But on movement skills ? Aren't you taking more damage when you are attacking? and having reduction then would that not be better ? Domine Non Es Dignus Dernier bump le 28 févr. 2018 à 13:53:23

i only use it on MS skills, whirling blades ususally because if i want it to proc ill whirl through a single mob or boss prior to nuking them if the damage reduction is necessary
not worth wasting a dps support gem to get fortify I got a fever and the only prescription, is more cowbell!

You must learn about the different between "more" and "increased" in this game. Fortify is a buff, it's not worth to link with main active skill

As long as you hit something with your movement skill every 5 seconds (plus any increases to fortify duration that you have), you will have Fortify up permanently anyway.
The general mode of use is to use your movement skill to charge into or next to a pack of mobs. This gets you Fortify. Then you use your main attack skill to clear the pack. For a random pack of white/blue mobs this should not take more than five seconds anyway. For bosses that take longer to kill, you just repeatedly run into them with your movement skill to refresh Fortify every five seconds. Or, if the boss has any kind of mechanics you need to dodge, use that time to refresh Fortify on nearby monsters or the boss itself - that way you don't lose any uptime. You can easily maintain Fortify permanently without sacrificing any damage from your main skill. |

-The fortify support grants you the fortify buff which lasts for four seconds. The fortify gem increases the duration by 25% for a total of five seconds.
-At high levels, movement skills that increase with attack speed often become the quickest way to travel, so most people will be using them constantly anyway. -If you put fortify on your move skill then it will proc the five seconds of fortify every time you use a movement skill that damages an enemy. -Since you will likely be re-positioning more than once in any five second period of time, your fortify up-time will be nearly indefinite during a fight as long as you graze an enemy with it. -This leaves your six link damage skill free to push for more damage while still enjoying all of the benefits of fortify so long as you stay mobile. The general thought is that you will almost always be able to use a movement skill to position in a fight and keep up the buff.
Even if you reduce your damage by 10% by using that movement skill(unlikely), you would still have more damage because the link will give around 50% more damage. Also as mentioned more damage and increased damage are different, there are good examples throughout the web. In general more multipliers are about 5-10x better than increases, depending on the build. Note: "enemies take x% increased damage" is effectively a more multiplier. |

I think he meant the colloquial "more" as in you take more damage from enemies if you don't use fortify then if you do.

Ok, now i get the reasoning behind it. Makes sense
I guess that is why i liked champion the most due to free fortify. But tectonicslam was made for jugg - which just lost its fortify. Will just have to get it on leap slam and do more damage. Will be running Enfeeble and Arctic armour anyways. So fortify in 6L will just be gimping my damage hard. my Need to feel safe attitude must change. Domine Non Es Dignus

Or you could do like i do...i have it linked to shield charge and frenzy. So im covered up close and when i come charging in. And yea, definitely not worth using it with your 6l main skill.

Hope they change it into more damage on the gem.
I still remember they initially designed it to help melee with defense AND damage, and not to be put in movement skills. |
