New Deadeye Ricochet with piercing projectiles

Chain is a property of projectiles and other skills too. Chaining means shooting off towards another enemy after hitting the first. The lightning bolt arc-style thing that chains is not a projectile though. But I was wondering if the ice projectiles (that look like freezing pulse) would get the chain property from the skill, even though in practice they won't ever chain. Vipermagi above seems to think it will work like that until they fix it.

tl;dr it's the cold effect, not the lightning effect, that might benefit from the chain bonus dmg.

Another way to look at is that a Deadeye can add Chain as a 6th link without dropping the Single target damage of a 5L, assuming a level 21 Chain. 1 * 1.3 /1.3 = 1. That would make a few heavy hitting single target skills a bit more clear viable. One of the GGG guys said that Fork is also technically a Chain which is why explode on contact abilities do not explode the hit when they fork. With a +1 projectile Rigwald's Quills you could have 3 arrows that hit for 1.4/1.3 then fork for 6 arrows at 1.3/1.3 which chain around a pack for reducing damage.

It would be 1 * 1.3 * 0.7 = 0.91.
Doh, forgot about less being 0.70 rather than 1/1.3. Well thats less pretty.
