Why do people prefer Elder Influence over Shaper Influence?

I kill Shaper maps, and Elder very slowly takes over. I do neutral maps and Shaper conquers Elder areas rapidly. Even when I have a decent sized Elder chunk I have yet to get any tier 4 memory frags show up in tier 4 Elder maps.

Having to have multiple of the same map to flip them in sequence is irritating, but I still don't have a good pool of new maps yet. Having them flip back to Shaper influence on their own blows. I would prefer that things stay locked until you go and kill the bosses, instead of requiring you continually retaking the same ground.

So far the actual new modded items are usually interesting, maybe I'll actually get a base I would want to try crafting with. I hear that caster stuff is Shaper related.
