Also, your life / mana ratio is not optimized for Mind over Matter. You need over 2.8k life for 6.6K life with MoM. Otherwise, when you take a hard hit you'll be left with zero mana and be unable to use any skills to survive.

You're doing pretty well, but there are still a few things you can optimize.

- Jewels. Life, mana, minion damage. Take 1 or 2 with minions taunt instead of damage.
- Helm - a bone helm will boost your minion damage by a fair bit. If you get one with +2 minion gems, move your AG over to it, should increase it's chances of survival quite a bit.
- Gloves - get rid of Commandment of Fury, it's sabotaging your minions fire damage by boosting monster's fire resist through Elemental Equilibrium.
- You are using shield charge, so a quicksilver flask will benefit your movement.

My league ending notes..

I had to grind out Encounters IV for the 36th challenge, which happened faster than the last sextant mod and I've used that time to level gems for two Hungry Loop setups.

My first idea was to combine 5L TVs from the ring with 3 6L Flame Golems (chest + 4 unique jewels) and a nigh invincible AG in a dedicated 4L helmet.

This didn't work out too well for Spectres that are not Solar Guards are apparently a lot squishier. I think this can be explained with two factors. First, their defense rating as per the Necronomicon: Solar Guards have a defense rating of 198% (whatever that means). Fire-Eaters have only 144% and TVs 143%. Second, the latter two Spectres are not ranged, they get into the melee fray which is naturally more dangerous.

Another factor are resists. Both SGs and TVs are naturally capped on fire resist because they have 75/40 inherent resist and then they get +30 from the skill gem and +20 from our Commander of Darkness. But with no other minion resist mod, they only end up with 50% cold and lightning resists (Fire-Eaters 50% to all). This has never been an issue with Solar Guards for me, but I've lost the TVs vs the Hydra and early in the Shaper fight.

So with TVs you need to take much better care about their survival. I have resorted to a Purity of Ice to hard-fix the first Shaper run and I think that is a valid option if you can use it in an Essence Worm. Otherwise it costs about 1k EHP, which isn't pretty. Though vs the Shaper alone it might even be worth it due to the extra max cold resist. But still, Essence Worm is obviously better.

Another way to fix their resists would be Herd the Flock and one 9% all minion resist suffix on a Ghastly jewel, but I didn't want to mess around with my skill tree.

So I went with the "easiest" route and switched the TVs into the 6L chest with Minion and Totem Resistance as per this guide. I also got them another % life reg jewel and that was ok for Shaper and 3 guardians. Minotaur still got them(!).


So in the end, while the TVs damage output with an AG vs very high hp targets is amaze balls, I deem them much inferior to Solar Guards for you have to babysit them a lot. TVs are better for Shaper and Uber Atziri, no questions asked, but the only guardian where I've noticed an improvement was Phoenix. Chimera phases are too short to make up for the totem ramp up time (same goes for every boss below t16). Hydra moves too much and Minotaur needs active Convocation babysitting (or a lot more life reg for them, which is much, much easier to get for Solar Guards because you have 3 extra rare jewels and don't rely on your AG, which makes Skullhead an option).

Clearspeed wise, 3 Flame Golems (both 5L and 6L) simply can't match 4 Solar Guards (probably not even 2) with all their extra jewels including Unending Hunger.

And given the extra effort that TVs require, I don't see a 2/2 split as my favorite option.


Maybe that's it for now folks, maybe I annoy you with some more nitpicking posts, however, big thanks again to Natt for providing this guide! This has really spoiled me for other builds ;)

This setup is insane, everything is blinded and taunted 24/7 with 70% !!!!!!!!! slow and flammability.

Its nearly ghuuda levels of broken, guardians move like they are in slow motion almost frozen.

But I don't use ANY damage jewels, just pure defence: minions resists and minions life regen. Tons of regen. I think I overcapped resistances for them but I don't care to calculate, they just live and kill anything in sight.

Yes, but if you compare your profile to mine, you notice that you have tons of additional minion defense stats. There's the lvl20 Minion life on your helm, the extra minion life% from this elder suffix, some extra minion life nodes that I have regretted and great TV-jewels like "Foul Arbiter" that I didn't bother to purchase given their cost.

And that was pretty much my point: SGs are super-tanky on their own, TVs require quite some defensive investment. They still deal unrivaled single target damage, no doubt. But only with an AG and after a certain ramp up time, so they can't shine below Shaper.
I have a quick question related to the Animate guardian. I´m unable to equip two Dyadus axes.
It always equips it to the offhand, i´ve tried it now three times and the axe ends up in the offhandslot. It seems to never change the mainhandslot.

Anyone knows a workaround for that?

Equip a junk 2-hand weapon, then the Dyadus, then the second one.
