Since we get a new mtx system, what about a solution for duplicated from mystery box

Since we cant gift mtx (for rmt reasons which is logical), it would be awesome if we could redeem.

- lets give a random number, 3 Darkness related mtx and get a new mystery box. Add a permanant mtx icon in the mtx tab and use it to redeem mtx.

i think by itself it would incite people to by even more boxes knowing that they can redeem the crap.

But if GGG is scared to lose boxes sales, they can also add an Mtx " Mystery Wrapping machine" that cost, lets say, 3GGGold and allows you to redeem the excess. Right click on the Wrapping machine Mtx, a trade window will appear, you have to place 3 mtx* of a same Box in order for it to work.

*cannot be applied to consumable mtx, the ones that come in stacks

note: this could also apply to former past mystery boxes (to get rid of those 30 verdant rain of arrow...)

I dunno; the intention of mystery boxes isn't to cannibalise regular sales. If duplicates were impossible, or could be "traded in", then the price of mystery boxes would go up. Folks calling for these kind of solutions never mention that, and it makes me wonder whether they acknowledge that inevitability, or have unrealistic expectations. I suspect it's the latter.

The MTX in Path of Exile are very expensive. If people want to discuss those prices, that's certainly a valid topic of discussion. But all too often I get the impression from threads such as this that people are attempting to use mystery boxes to indirectly lower the price of MTX.

Fundamentally, mystery boxes are gambling. You are guaranteed something worth what you paid or more. Often substantially more. There has to be a downside to that. The downside is duplicates. This is what mystery boxes are; either you're okay with that, or you're not. I am not. For so long as mystery boxes contain portal effects and the risk of a worthless duplicate, then I will never buy more than a single one during those "get a free box when you spend points" promotions. But that just means I shouldn't buy them, not that they're broken and need to be fixed.


tl;dr: GGG can do basic math. They won't offer something which rips them off. They aren't idiots.

Think I remember Chris saying they're exploring the option of partial refunds for duplicated mtxs. Of course, it doesn't mean it will happen, but it's a possibility.

I wish I could trade in or even trade up (pay a little extra) to turn my consumable fireworks into a perma fireworks.

Honestly, I would appreciate if GGG would just delete duplicated results upon request. Maybe have a few "are you sure" to cover their own ass for player regret.

But I know that I will never use duplicates. I'm fine with getting sets piecemeal, maybe even only having 1 part of a set and never having the rest. Maybe I'll mess around with it and combine it with something later.

But duplicates? Maybe I'm weird, but I only ever want one of something unless multiple are required for it to work (example: dual wielding and wanting both weapons to have an effect or skin).

I'd rather have that option than 5 pairs of purple necrotic gloves.

If it wasn't for the announced changes to the MTX stash and the improvements in organization, I think I'd go mad.

Lets just ignore the fact that ANYTHING you really want will be on sale at a later date, no RNG to mess with...but hey, if you are so desperate to spend your money on the RNG boxes just so you can get it first DO NOT expect to get it all easily

Most people who buy the boxes know this already.

But sometimes there are exclusive pieces in the boxes that cannot be purchased outside of the normal store experience. Like the exclusive HO MTX, for example. Or fireworks.

Me? I'm partial to the crystals! I actually wish I had purchased more of the dark box (forget name) so I could have acquired more of those black crystals.

GGG became a lot better at this, and has since reduced or stopped exclusive pieces in most box sales, thankfully.

I know I'm spinning a wheel of fortune every time I open a box. And sometimes you hit the BANKRUPT part of the wheel. I'm an adult: I'm fine with this decision and can live with it.

I just wish GGG would let me get rid of the extra "clutter" of MTX pieces I will never use by deleting them to make it a little easier to look at.

Thankfully the new system they've shown seems to ease that a lot. I'll still have multiple pairs, but they won't be spread out around 5 tabs.

A simple solution is for us to have the option to DELETE the duplicates that we get from the boxes.

Yeah. Like I've said before, this is the best solution for the old system. The new system sort of breezes over it, so that they'll all be stacked in one "set" it looks like.

All GGG needs to do is have a few "Are you sure you wish to delete this?" Y/N prompts to cover their ass so players don't get booty bothered when they regret their action to delete it and to prevent accidental deletions.
