Dealing with Death Frustration
I'm at 93. Yesterday I grinded up to 50% doing red maps and didn't die once.
Today I died once, after that it got followed by several more deaths. I feel so frustrated that I just killed my character until I got back to zero. Just for me to have peace of mind. I want to ask other exiles how do you guys deal with the frustration of dying at 90+? Please no troll "git gud" comments. My skills are average. I want legit advice on dealing with the BAD FEELING of wasting hours of mapping and grinding. Dernier bump le 4 févr. 2017 à 11:25:48

I only build to 90. Anything after that is literally a free bonus to me.

I don't, I log off for the day. And sometimes I go to forum to complain about either technical game issues or reflect mechanics, cause those are only reasons I die to mostly.

Step 1) Die (like in the game not IRL)
Step 2) Get angry! And swear, like a lot. Step 3) Get depressed, like super depressed to the point where you cry some Step 4) Shut off POE and do something else Step 5) Realize that alch/chaos on red maps is bad for leveling Step 6) Start POE and trans/alt "safe" red maps Step 7) Run maps from step 7 Step 8) Die again, because you get cocky and ran an alch red map (repeat steps 2-7) Step 9) ??? Step 10) Level up TLDR: Run safe magic maps only, you'll die far less often and get a net positive exp gain. My character (lv 93. BF HoWA Inquisitor) can easily run alched T14-T16 for leveling but I restrict myself to spamming blue Shaped Strand maps. Once I level I'll switch over to running blue Gorge maps for 95 and 96 (might try for 100 but not sure if I have the patience for that). " Well this bad feeling doesnt go away ever but what you can change is the build. For example i used to hate my builds when they died in scenario described by you i exactly know that. Since then I switched to play facetank builds only to facetank anything in the game the only time i die i know its my own fault and not a shitty oneshot volatile this helped me a lot. Once you reach lvl 95+ shit on clearspeed rather play a safe facetank build that never dies and can do the bosses safely and not skipping them. Its a lot more satisifying feeling than lets say playing sparker in high lvl well rolled red maps while occassinally dying to random crap/volatiles or bosses (or even skippng bosses). depends on which stage you are at:
1.leveling stage, whatever the level you are at, you need to avoid any dangerous map mode that your build can't handle, eg, -resistance, temporal chain, reflect, etc. run away when any potential danger is around. because leveling is all about efficiency, not about bragging right, not about loot, not about challenging your self. pack size of your map is not the first priority at all. the first priority is not to die! 2. get as much as life/es as possible. 3.get high dps, kill everything in sight in seconds or instantly. 4.after leveling to the level you set for your build, then do all the challenge you prefer. anyway, the most important of all, avoid hard map mode for your build. |

I wish I could skip bosses and breaches to avoid this problem.
But I can't. If they're there, I have to kill them. The only solution I've found is running high yellows or low, safe reds. Inevitably, I start to think things are going well, step up the difficulty, and get one-shotted. |

When I died I have tweaked my build and took break for at least hour or two.
For lvl 100 I was quite happy with build: - 10.500 energy shield (minimum) - was using energy shield - I mean shield item - when I have died in map, tried to realize what happened and never returned to finish that map if death happened by faulty playing but something that can happen - using Whirling Blade, because it has stable movement length and was never walking in straight line as finishing animation inside of pack of mobs means they can attack all at once and if those are buffed/blue mobs it mens death; walking like "tzik-tzak" - was using Eye of Chayula and Dream Fragments - that is best defense in the game, people are able to play with flasks but to loose control of character disbalance tempo of play - knowledge of maps, bosses and maps mods to determine what I can play and what not - play map that is most enjoyable and fun - in my case last level and half I have played only Poorjoys Azylum - never fight with reflect mobs and have dps not too high to die from reflect - and again, take a break for few hours |
