Game Crashing - Randomly
Hi, I recently reinstalled PoE and the game just crashes randomly when I'm trying to level or clear an area, sometimes in town.
I've checked all my drivers everything seems to be updated and my system is running smooth. My other games seem to be working fine just PoE that isn't working anymore. DxDiag Link

just ignore the warnings in the logfile, in what way does the client "crash"?
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" Feels like graphics card just stops working then bottoms out. I've been doing research I believe its problem with Windows 10 and my graphics card. I'm going to just downgrade my windows to a more stable version that works fine with the games I play. |

" Your DXDiag looks very clean, even updated chipset and video drivers! :-) Except until we get to end with all of the crash records DXDiag gathered in its report... " Microsoft's Edge browser crashed a couple times, your NVIDIA driver crashes a few times, DGCefBrowser.exe and xcoronahost.xem (Black Desert Online?) crashed a few times, and even a BSoD in there with BAD_DUMPFILE. " Since you had crashes with Black Desert Online, or whatever DGCefBrowser.exe is, I'd say, no, your "other games" are not working fine. The BSOD and NVIDIA crashes is troubling. Either you have a corrupt video driver or a failing or overheating GPU/discrete graphics. The latter is possible since this is a laptop. Do you own a laptop cooler? How do you play, on a table, on a bed, on your lap, or what? First I'd wipe your current video driver (use a 3rd party video driver tool to completely wipe it, such as one from Guru3D), reboot, download the latest and install with "clean" option, reboot again, then test. If still causing issues, troubleshoot your video card. Try running the game on the built-in Intel graphics instead. See if you get the same crashing. Downclock your GPU (using 3rd party software if needed) and see if that helps. ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄

" Thanks for the help, Black Desert "crashing" the community calls that a feature. The game crashes for everyone at least 1-2 a day so I figured that was normal. I will try removing all my drivers and reinstalling everything. I have cooling pad and I run software to monitor my GPU Temps (MSI Afterburner). It does get high when playing heavy duty game like Black Desert on high settings but outside that PoE sits at decent 50-60 GPU temp and CPU are even cooler. Back when I used to play PoE, it was before I updated to Windows 10. Around 5 weeks ago I did clean format of my SSD and reinstalled everything including latest Windows before the format I had same problem with War Frame which I used to play before I updated to Windows 10. I'm hoping its not hardware issue and more of Windows 10 problem. |

So I cleared my current drivers and reinstalled the new ones still having same problem.
First time it crashed my windows said PoE was blocked from using my graphics hardware, so I did compatibility mode and set it to windows 8 and about 5-10 mins into the game it crashed. I'm honestly going to just roll back to Windows 8.1 where I never had any of these problems. If it keeps happening well then it's safe to say its hardware issue and my cards on the way out. |

" Before you do that (I'd recommend Windows 10 over 8.1 any day, or 7 over all of them), you might want to stress test your system with Prime95 (in-place large FFT test) and Furmark (burn-in test) running at the same time. Stress test your system for an hour and see if it's stable. ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄

" I ended up just doing clean wipe and reinstalling Windows 10, I reinstalled all latest Drivers and got my system back to normal. I tried playing PoE but within 5-10mins it crashed again. The drivers stopped working. I ran some tests on my system everything passed, I also ran Prime95 + Furmark and there was no errors or warnings it passed as well. So I have no idea why my PC is playing up when it comes to games. I can recall having same problem with WarFrame, 5-10mins in the game would crash. I don't understand why Black Desert will run fine at times and then it will crash at same spots in the game, many of my friends have same problem with Black Desert. Any ideas on what I could try now. I'm out of ideas, also after looking at all the topics on internet seems many have same problem with there games and Windows 10. Not sure if the problem has been fixed or not. |

I believe I fixed the problem.
I went into Nvidia Geforce Control Pannel. - Turned power management to Max Proformance. - Turn VSync off. So far everything seems to be working rather smoothly, I will update if there are anymore problems. |

" Interesting! Thank you so much for sharing that! I'm sorry you had to go through that whole headache of wiping and installing the OS again. Awesome job troubleshooting and narrowing things down. Would you mind turning back on V-Sync to see if V-Sync or the power management settings were the problem for you? That would help others who run into the same issue, and help people like me to help others.
