Most Tanky Build
Per the subject: I like playing builds that hit maybe a few flasks and abilities but can essentially facetank anything (while still having good DPS, ie. decent mapping speed).
I currently have Mjolner discharge Juggernaut with all three purities and Earthquake Juggernaut. I think these are some of the best that I have seen in this category, but not sure so I wanted to see what everyone thinks is the best in this department (including between the ones I already listed). I understand most pure dps builds don't care because they remove the threat very fast, but I would like to stick to the category of builds that can facetank. When facetanking I am considering Core Malachai, Uber Izaro, Uber Atziri, etc. Builds not needing to move out of the way of the large oneshot skills would be preferred. Literally anything RF or Aegis.

Aegis block build and you are good to go. 90% of the time regular white mobs in maps can't even hit past your es, even if you don't invest into es at all.

all you need is something that can kill pretty quickly, max block/spell block, and some form of sustain...be it regen leech or whatever. on top of that an almost instant mobility skill and freeze is going to compound the "tankiness".
when i think tank i think of characters that don't take damage, and when they do they're back to full before they take more. i don't necessarily think of characters that can stand in front of bosses for 3 minutes without dying, because that isn't practical at all. |

When going FULL tank there are really only 2 options = Regen or Block. Or Both. Coupled with trigger effects. But be warned, something that can afk tank the most difficult bosses is going to sit between 10-20k dps without uber gear. Which to some may be low.
Here is my current Mindmap: Defense: - (Max) 78/78 Block Aegis Aurora - 5k Life / 500-800 ES - 20k Armor - Enfeeble - Artic Armor - Grace with RT - Tempest shield - Anvil trigger effect. HP on block - 3 Trigger gems linked to Life gained on hit. - Endurance Charges (How many would likely be possible with these settings? 5?) - Life regen would be nice, most likely not pushing it. New base % Regen amulet looks good. Might be better than Anvil. Offense: (Any ideas here?) - Varunastra most likely. Highest bang for passive tree investment. - EQ seems like the best option. Coupled with voidhearth. Problems: - Lack of res due to unique heavy equipment. New res boots might help out. All of this as a Duelist seems like the best option. I would fancy a marauder tank aswell but I no matter where I look, Gladiator is hands down the better option. Not sure if a Full Life/Life regen build with just a bit of block and on block HP trigger effects could come close to that. I manage 1k Life regen 2 leagues back. Was fun, but without the block to avoid damage entirely it barely holds up against dangerous bosses. Meta-game holds no value - Play how you like!

Thank you all for these great options, really appreciate the information posted so far.

My current full tank setup :
6700 HP (7000 if i swap kaom's root for some boss) 78% block/Spell block heavy strike 35-60K depend on buff fortify, arctic armor 5000 eva + blind + enfeeble avoid a lot of hit, i can use RT for lot of armor, but i feel tankier with eva, in added elemental damage map it's important to avoid more hit. I get back almost 300hp on every block/spell block thank's to anvil/crown I'am using weight of the empire jewel to keep a decent DPS (50% more damage with 5 jewell) I use life gain on hit to do no regen map/no leech map, i can do all map mod. If i could find a better weapon, i would go deeper in tanking and use kaom instead. Varunastra would be amazing, but too expensive in prophecy. Max block can be turned into Max Spellblock
That's one of the reasons max block builds are so stronk vs most damage types. But lots of max block builds that I'v seen have fairly low hp sooo 1 shots... Regen tanks can become virtually invincible to most game content given enough max life or energy shield. The % regen scales with addition life and additional life helps with 1 shot damage. Cast on Crit immortal call builds can become virtually immune to physical damage while hitting stuff. There are only a few boss fights in the game that are completely physical damage though. For max block builds with good health pools I'd say facebreaker is probably king. Reason being that most of the good block nodes on the tree right now are good for fb. That and fb scales very easily meaning you can just stack life strength and resist. For regen builds Low life or CI spellcaster xyz - firestorm/blade fall is a solid choice. The gear to make these type of builds really effective is fairly expensive. With good enough gear you can achieve nearly 20k es and regen more life in half a sec then most builds have total Someone said RF is very tanky but imo that is only vs fire sources because most of your tank ability is eaten up by the degen from RF. Also it's hard to get max block while being RF meaning you will be squishier then just a life based build like facebreakers with regen and block. Also movement speed is a big part of being tanky if stuff can't hit you then no damage taken. One of the reasons why whirling blades is key to a lot of builds that farm Uber Atziri. |

Nice thread.
I tried building a tanky too, but it didn't turn out to be what I wanted. 70 block/spell block (78 with anvil) 48% evasion (could still get this up about 5% with better gear) 5500 ish armor (could get it to 7ish k, maybe a bit higher, with better gear) 5.5k health (hard to get higher, but could prolly squeeze in 6k) Max res 45k tooltip dps reave The idea was to get so blocky and evasive I'd hardly get hit and the chance of getting hit twice in a row, without being able to lifeleech back up, would be very rare. The truth is that heavy bosses simply just hit me far more often than I had thought. And with such HP a fully buffed Izaro one shots. Next tank I will build will have far less evasion and much higher armor paired with fair ES. One really needs a big pool of hp/es to simply soak things up. Though, that new armor evasion belt incoming may yield opportunities.... Daunting. Did you try turning it off and on again?
