Why Poe is becoming PAY TO WIN GAME - free discusion

the only thing I've bought is a pack of stash tabs on discount and i've only done that because I am actually physically incapable of stopping myself from hoarding things that might come in handy eventually

i don't even sell things

Maybe I'm slow in the head, but you're the one, who does not read the topic (or don't understand it).

Nobody says, that this game should be free! There is a lot of work to make such great game, and we have to pay for work. But I prefer BUY model. It's much more honest, that pretending, that game will never be pay to win, and then introducing purchases, which directly affects gameplay.

I hope you got it now.

To make things clear, I've bought bunch of tabs (currency, premium, and normal ones) by myself. I've also bought soundtrack. I'm unhappy about paying for tabs, I'm happy about paying for soundtrack. Hope you got my point now.

And I don't see how it is related, but I'm in gaming since 1986 or 1987.

Well , B2P not guarantee a game not P2W
And me i prefer model F2P of Poe, i will never try Poe if it was cost money.
And give money because game is great and happy to see mtx stash tab because it is difficult to me sort items and like collect unique ( dislike D3 for that : not enough space ... )

So what you would want B2P and have restriction on numbers of stash ? Not me and i think it is too late for that.
Yes, I prefer b2p and amount of stash could be increased by purchase by in game currency.

You said, that you would not try this game if it would cost money. But if you could play it for free for a 7 days and then buy it if you like it, it would be ok?
I wouldn't have played this game if it had been a trial.
So you've never bought any game? I just don't understand you, tbh.

I didn't like Diablo 2, barely got into Torchlight 2, and my copy of Reaper of Souls has something like two hours in it. I have no idea why Path of Exile hooked me as hard as it did and if it had been on a trial basis I don't think I would have given it a shot at all

Can you buy 50 used Regretorbs just as in the Garena server already?

Pay to win in games is almost always used to refer to things purchased in game that give players an advantage. That's what the developers have control over.

Yet a decent computer gives a much larger advantage than stash tabs. If you only have a laptop with integrated graphics that can run the game at 10 fps, you can forget about reaching level 100 at all unless you have help. And speaking of help, don't the top streamers have an unfair advantage in the form of a large fanbase? If they hit the slightest snag, there'll be dozens of players offering them items or currency to keep the show going. Extra stash tabs may make your progress slightly faster, but that's peanuts compared to many external advantages.

I still remember a decade ago when pay-to-win meant spending real money to purchase the infinity plus one sword to kill the final boss of the game with. Or keys to access new areas in the game. You were literally paying for the very ability to win the game. The alternative, if it existed at all, usually involved farming hundreds of hours. One game I played for a while offered free playtime for about an hour per day and required spending money to play more.

These days gamers are happy to slap the term on even the slightest perceived advantage, especially if they can't afford it themselves. Cosmetic microtransactions are usually labeled cash grabs instead, because god forbid a game studio actually gets and income from something.

Life is free to play, and it's also pay to win. It is a Triple-A game.
Don't worry people, I threw enough money at POE for a couple of players. If every 50th guy spends as much as me, cheers.

Seriously now, I play so much every league, that each leagues playtime is more than 200 hours I'm perfectly cool to give them 50 bucks for each league... or more.

I can understand some people playing the game for free to see how it goes, but after more than a hundred hours of playtime I don't understand people, that don't have money problems irl, that don't spend some money on stash tabs or mtx.

I like to give money to companies that make a great product. And GGG has made a great game.

So, Stash Tabs maybe, if your aim is to trade and trade and do some more trading.

Using the premium stash tabs for poe.trade is just a shortcut from other ways you can do it.

Mate, it's not money problem. I think that everybody agrees, that for good game we should pay. The problem is FOR WHAT YOU PAY. And if you have to pay for something, what gives you advance in game, that's in my opinion unfair.

I will give you example. One of my favourite games is Crusader Kings II. I've bought almost all expansions for it, and I have no problem with this. You know why? Because there is no paying for getting advance.

@Deathflower: AAA for some, sure. But there is many people, who plays it without sound, or even vision...
