Bosses and Vaal skills
I see it from something of a lore perspective. Izaro and his Goddess seem to embody, if not purity, then justice, law, righteousness. It seems antithetical to 5he corruption of the Vaal. So, in my head, I think of Aspirant's Trial rooms as rooms of purification that cleanse any corrupt souls from the premise through the Goddess's divine will.
According to game developers most recently, the lore representation of area transitions is an implied substantial length of time and distance. So... the souls get wicked away during the halls off screen? Or fade away / escape? Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/

" Technically yes, although Malachai deserves mentioning. Not even considering the 3 minibosses directly beforehand, the fight is so drawn out and full of interruptions/invulnerable phases that you're guaranteed to run out of Vaal skill uses halfway through even if they do a zillion DPS. At least Atziri's invulnerability is based on a timer, not HP. |

" True but you can always take multiple charged up gems with you for those encounters. That you cant at izaro doesnt sit well with me mechanics-wise. cant see the reasoning here |
