you can simply buy 100 armourer scraps for 1c

Plus as someone said you can get like 100 or something for a chaos.

So I would pay a chaos to get chaos(s)?

it cost 80 armourers and 20 blacksmiths for the chaos recipe (unless you're lucky and get rares with quality in them)

unidentified rares would give you 3 chaos but if you don't identify them, you can trash something that is good, so 2 chaos for a full set of max quality identified rares, that's the chaos recipe

paying to make money sounds pretty stupid to me...

armourer scraps are not a way of getting rich. they are a way to improve your defenses by making 20% quality armors.

once I have all the items, it's time to max their quality out

Right here is the problem. To max out, you're going to need 80 scraps and 20 whetstones, worst case. All that is going to bring you is 1 extra chaos orb. Thing is though, 80 scraps and 20 whetstones are worth at least 1 chaos orb on their own, so you're doing all that extra work for nothing really. :)

I suggest you continue with the normal chaos recipe (without quality) and just pile up scraps and whetstones and trade those separately if you get too many. Or do what a lot of people do - use the scraps for wisdom scrolls (just vendor them 1:2 scrolls) and use the whetstones for the chisel recipe. I'd never waste whetstones on anything else, chisels are way too usable.

Overall you're going to save a lot of time, and you're not losing out on currency either. Quite the opposite because your efficiency will ramp up, you will loot more stuff in the same amount of time = profit. :)
Why on earth would you buy them or do the vendor recipe?

One of the most common strong boxes give you plenty of them, got 250 of the fuckers and i'm barely even playing the temp league atm.

I think I understand what you guys are saying,

I'll go over how I use the recipes, so you can get a better idea of where I'm coming from

1. rare rings, amulets and belts are, well, kinda rare, so when they're 60-74 item level, I keep them

2. once I have 2 rings, 1 amulet and 1 belt, I keep the remaining necessary items for the recipe (boots, gloves, helm, chest, 2H weapon)

3. once I have all the items, it's time to max their quality out, however, I don't have enough armourers or blacksmiths

4. so I start keeping quality armors to get armourers

5. meanwhile, I continue to stack on rare rings, amulets and belts

6. I get the possibility to make multiple chaos recipes but I'm dry on quality currency

(In perandus, I don't need the armourers, but I make the recipe anyways because I really need them in standard)

It is much more time efficient to just reset instances, or do maps to get more currency drops, then to pickup everything that can be used in a vendor recipe.

You're just past the point in the game's progression where they are useful

So I should not care whether I can make the recipe or not and just vendor all those rings, amulets and belts that can potentially be good but actually aren't at the moment?

If you really want to use the Chaos recipe with quality items, I think you are better of creating 2 piles of Rares - one, which dropped with 0 quality (most), and the other, which drops with some quality (I'd say 10-15+). When you gather enough Quality items, just bump them up those few points up, and get additional Chaos. It isn't as much hassle, as collecting quality armors, and still nets you some extra Chaos from time to time.
Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.
Alright, you guys have convinced me to stop doing the armourers recipe, it's just not worth the effort

Plus, I actually went back to standard to see how many chaos recipes I could do, and it was 8...

8 x 80 = 640

I need 640 armourers scraps to get 16 chaos (I have 55 in standard, 155 in Perandus)

A full stash tabs of quality armors gives less than 10 armourers...

fuck it, I'll just do the 1 chaos version of the recipe and when I'll normally get enough armourers, then I'll do the 2 chaos version

thanks for everyones insight, I appreciate it
You can still casually do the whetstone/armouror recipe without much space needed. Just pick up items above 10 quality when you have inventory unused and you'll only need to at most three weapons and three armours in your stash. When you come to town with the fourth, trade it in with the three in your stash. Even less space if you only pick up 14+ quality items.
