Gifting of MTX's almost a thing now
" Fair point but while they put in more work, their also directly benefiting from the transaction - which sounds terrible but really is not. Unlike with standard rmt where the money goes to the rmt site and no profit is made. IGN: Arlianth

" Trading MTX for currency would constitute as RMT. If someone wants to RMT, they are going to do it anyway with real money or gift cards, with or without MTX. Streamer giving out MTX for people who give them stuff would be trading MTX for currency, and that would probably be constitute as RMT, and they can be dealt with using RMT rules. |

People that are willing to spend REAL LIFE MONEY to purchase PIXELS in an ONLINE VIDEO GAME will do so by other, much less scrupulous methods. People that assume that MTX gifting will open RMT floodgates into PoE are sorely misinformed.
The floodgates were thrown wide open ages ago* when Diablo 2 popularized the ARPG genre. Dernière édition par mochimutt#0130, le 29 déc. 2015 à 08:41:11

I personally would never sell some of my better items for MTX. I believe in cold hard currency and not in fancy looking pixels.
On the other spectrum I would not care if people buy MTX to buy items ingame. I don't see that as pay 2 win since pure p2w in my book is paying for items you otherwise would not be able to get at all. Now it's invest time to win. That's as wrong to me as p2w. (I would really like to see skill to win, but hey thats to much to ask for.) | |
I think this is a good idea.
Yes, it will be used as payment for services and items, but as this will directly benefit the game's developers, stay within the game, and the MTX can't be re-gifted, I'm fine with it. Is it P2W? No, because people be able to buy services and items only from OTHER PLAYERS. That's the crucial point to me, paired with the inability to re-sell or re-trade gifts. (Points should probably be excluded from the gifting options.) I feel it'll be nice to be easily able to gift something to friends. Not as payment, but as a, you know, gift, because you want to make someone happy. (I have been able to do this once, with the help of the support team, but it required some jumping through hoops as they wanted to ensure that it was a real life friend, which it was.) Looking at other games with a similar option, like WoW: I have never seen anyone, certainly not a lot of people, accepting cosmetic items as payment for carries. Everyone only asks for in-game currency for obvious reasons. I doubt it would be much different here in PoE. Initially, yes, some folks would trade services or items for MTX, but there's only so many MTX you need or have use for. Currency is much more universal and flexible. Probably unpopular, but: I also think it'd be nice for free players to be able to earn MTX this way if they can't spend money or don't want to. " Sophistry, Are you paying real money for an ingame advantage?, if yes then it's RMT. They can't leave it a grey area just because one way it benefits them and one way it dose not. It both amounts to the same thing and they would both need to be punished the same way...which is perma banning. If they allow it though giftable MTX's then the forums are going to explode, people will quit and support will be fucked when they try to sort out and enforce anything.
