Just going to flat out say it: The art assets in this game are not up to quality

Tuning down "the way" you said things might be a good idea. However, do not delete the thread down. I'm personally having similar feelings that there are a few things missing on the graphics point of view, and here you have a lot of input from other people. Actually, there, you are getting mine now as well :).

1-) It's a serious pain to target the mobs most of the time. Using curses just to see how many mobs there are and more precisely where they are is a very weird work around. I'd much prefer the ability to distinctly see mobs on my screen. This is mostly due to background & foreground colors not being distinct enough. Obviously I am not asking them to be too distinct (I'm not color blind by the way) but as of now, for me, waiting for a projectile to come meet me or to curse the screen randomly to be able to locate an enemy on the screen is a weak point of this game.

2-) Actually very related to 1 but not exactly same, this makes targeting extremely harder as I am using freezing pulse with LMP and a lot of projectile speed. Therefore, I'm always trying to create a rectangle from my character to the majority of the mobs in the screen to maximize the efficiency.
There happens de-synch'ing every now and then, and I ought to check health pools of the different mobs along the line I fire my projectiles to be able to see if they are affected or not. Their "getting hit" / chill animation is a little too subtle. If I'm not targeting the mob but the scene -which you mostly do if they are in a line, to concentrate the damage- I often find myself (i) stop casting, (ii) check the health pools, (iii) re-position myself with a spell like leap slam, (iv) try again. I ought to see if I apply a chill effect or not. But if they are standing still and due to lack of floating damage texts, I just keep checking their individual health points.

3-) I'm almost a freak on how my character looks. I didn't combine some uniques in diablo 3 because they looked very weird together. In POE I'm constantly trying to match sets where my character has a more ordered view (not necessarily all same version of plate armor kinda order, but not ugly jumps from top to bottom). Gear pieces look exactly same between different classes, and different versions of sets look quite distinct. Mixing & matching different pieces (which is a grinding gear game should be all about), even if they are all versions of plate, makes my characters look as if they are "random" salvages and I'm not happy to see a 5 linked chest if it will look absolutely ridiculousness on me. Between I definitely DO NOT suggest fixed looks. I'm very aware that it is a very serious challenge to make dozens of different helms and dozens of different chest pieces to look like they belong to each other when combined if you still want to keep the unique look (which I really appreciate).

4-) Again, very related to the 3, I'm not happy that enemies I'm encountering look very similar to me. Yes it does make sense as I'm collecting the gear from them. But I think a little less realism on this department is a good thing. (Just to reply potential "but realism" replies, you are getting a chest armor and a 2H axe from a scorpion. Please.). My problem is to have a unique look in the battlefield. Hopefully even demigod-like look as I obviously am one, massacring hundreds of bests / armies / commanders etc. As I'm looking at the different kinds of gear very thoroughly to be able to mix-match to my best abilities, seeing very same gear on the bandits I'm fighting makes me sad. I want to look somewhat different from common bandits. That's why I mildly suggested to have different classes having a different look in the same gear. I think that's a very nice touch from Diablo 3.

5-) It probably does not belong here, but why can't I generate lmp freezing pulse on door ways? Are there magical magnets that ground my spell ? :) Re-positioning while I'm trying to see the spell, but weirdly enough, sometimes I do see the animation and it does not connect to the mobs (de-synch I guess) and other times it is totally invisible and mob(s) at the door still get hit. Making freezing pulse very annoying when fighting such mobs, which happens A LOT of times, thanks to Murphy..

6-) Finally, those sparky looking black / whiteish skeletons look terrible - the ones with lightning damage. When I'm showing off POE I definitely avoid showing those mobs, because their sparky look even on death looks really, really bad. It looks as if a child tried to describe / paint its dream where things looked perfectly natural, but pen & paper did not mercy his ideas and the end result looks ridiculous at best. As I said, once I got caught on that area, had to say "Oh its on beta yet, so it makes sense to have some problems with it" and twice I ran away from that area when I was playing with friends for them not to judge the game on wrong grounds.

Obviously this was a post about why & where graphics / art is bad for me personally, but not why it is good for me personally. I love the general approach on things. I love the classical diablo worldish color themes which were weirdly missing majority of diablo-clone games. I quite enjoy some areas where targeting is much easier (solaris temple!) due to heavy foreground / background contrast (which I think is the reason, I could be utterly wrong here).

Greetings everyone

First i have to say that i really like the Art and the look of Poe,it remembers me a little bit on the World of Robert E Howards Conan, and im a Huge Fan of it.
I like the more Adult touch.

In the same way,the Armors except for the Marauder are a little bit to ,,Clean'' for me,that Means a Marauder with the Current Armors looks for me more like a Paladin or Something.

That hole Thing will mean i hope there will came more Armors like the Gladiator Armor, and more Helmets maybe with Horns,Leather Parts on Armors or such stuff.
A little more Barbarian Design for some Armors in case (Which not means only Horns :P)

An other thing is the weird look in the air that the Chars have if their in Town....it looks a little Bit crazy ^^

Except this Points i really Like Poe and ill hope the whole Projekt goes on,great Work !

Sry for my Bad English :P

You are compairing the graphics of a supposed AAA title like D3 with an indie title. Considering everything, especially that its free and doesn't cost 59.99, I think GGG has done a great job in every aspect of this game so far.

Keep up the good work guys.

Crate Entertainment is also indie and this is their art:

Edit:Didn't realize posters lacked deletion functions. I'd personally like to delete the thread or have it locked but whatever's clever with the mods.

Locked on request of thread starter.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
