How can I get Chaos resistance?

The one good thing about CI.

I may have to run like a scared chicken alot but I can stare down chaos enemies in the face
Part of the point of chaos res is that it's stupidly hard to stack. You just don't get more than 20-30% chaos res on an endgame char. It's kinda the wildcard stat. Nasty piece of work, that one. Like, just for reference, you pretty much can't get chaos res at all on normal. By the time you're in cruel, you might have enough to break even again. If you finish merciless with above 20%, you did well. The good news is, effective chaos mobs are uncommon enough that you can tank through them most of the time, and life stacking does the trick pretty well.

I've seen one node giving 16% between the witch and shadow, but haven't seen much more. Chaos resistance can spawn, albeit rarely, on certain armor pieces, no? I'm struggling a bit , any tips appreciated, thank you.

Duelists and Rangers have a Chaos-Node bottom right as well :)

You can also get Chaos resistances from items.

A chaos resistance aura like cleansing in D2 would be very welcome. I hate having to have a special tab in my inventory for chaos resist gear when I gotta face-off against spitting snakes and alchemists.

A caster w/o CI can get 1-shot by even non-boss alchemists.

In merc, my g/f (witch) died on the sewers like 20 times in 2 minutes.
We had to rely on conversion traps, healing totems, and just kiting.

Chaos, and the -Penalty. Another one of those not so cool changes, imo. It really hinders your experimentation, and viable pieces of gear, as you get pigeon holed into having to find that mod, and other res mods, on near everything to survive the content at late game stages.

Meh, it is what it is or now, hopefully it gets some rethinking, or something.
GGG - Why you no?
some basic tips.

chaos damage isnt so common you need to overly gear for it, and most of the time it is ranged damage, which you can easily avoid - well, unless your melee and in the middle of a fight already and ranged classes get near you.
but most of the time, simply strafing left and right and pelting a mob from a distance will take care of thier chaos damage.
totem it if you think theres more then you can handle, and throw out traps and back up, let them come to you.
if you play the game enough, you know chaos mobs and where they are - if you know your going into a area with chaos mobs, simply put some spare chaos gear on, and atleast dont bet at any sort of negative number when entering a area with chaos mobs.
if its your first time through a new area, and you dont know it, just assume there is some chaos mobs in there.
chaos damage isnt so common that you need to gear for it 100% of the time, so just knowing the zones and being able to say "ok, going to the sewers now, probably should bring some chaos gear", can easily change the difficulty of a area.
on the flip side, if you know a area has no chaos mobs, you have alittle freedome to use more DPS gear, or swap to more fire gear, or whatever.
just keep some spare chaos gear around for just about any slot, even if its not ideal, and swap to it when you know you need the chaos resist.
