Why doesn't this work? Increased crit chance + aura

So basically the title.

Basically I'm supposed to be able to use any support with any skill where it makes sense right?

It makes sense that supporting an aura with ICC should grant ICC to those in its AoE, just like supporting an aura with added lightning damage grants a lightning damage buff.

Auras don't attack
Therefore they don't crit
So added crit does nothing

Adding lightning damage support gem to an aura doesn't do anything. I can't put "chance to ignite" in grace, either. Nor does item quantity or rarity increase if you put those linked to an aura. etc. etc. etc.

It would just be a big can o' worms.

Imagine if you could :P You would be able to share ALL support gems in the game with whole party, and not limiting to 1 skill ;P

aura has 0 critical chance,and it doesn't deal damage,0%(1+ICC)=0. Even more aura doesn't hit either and critical hit applies on hit.

Ah but that's not the point. These support gems work with minions in the same way you would expect it to work with auras.

EG: added chaos damage will have your skeletons do extra chaos damage.

Should added chaos damage not have my wrath aura give allies extra lightning damage and added chaos damage?

It makes sense right?

no, no it doesn't

Zombies have an attack, THAT is what gets the Added damage/Crit/all that happy stuff. Auras have no attack component, so they wouldn't be able to get those things.

Minions also hit things with attacks...

if auras could give support gem effects, everyone would stack level 1 flat auras running the same support gems on them multiple times to get ridiculous, broken, overpowered results, like added lightning damage 5 times; it is not balanced or intuitive that things should behave this way

I would like to see support gems that effect auras / change how their buffs work though.
