Are critical strike chance passives broken

So...

All we are saying...

is give crits higher chance.

Quite epic, considering my sig :)

Didn't really read the op fully, just skimming before bed, hopefully will get a chance in the morning. Actual feedback pending...

In my opinion, even with the removal of diamond flasks, crits are close to needing a nerf. It's reasonably easy to get 25% crit chance and 500% crit multiplier, and with any spammy skill like FP, Ice Spear, Spark, Fireball etc you will be critting all the time.

That said, I do agree with you that some crit nodes are a waste of time, i.e. 15% crit chance nodes. I never take any of these unless they are on the way to a combined crit chance/multiplier node, or on the way to a 40%+ crit chance node.
The fact that you dont need any accuracy with spells means that buffing the nodes would just make things like FP even more overpowered. If anything, increace base crit on weapons.
getting critical chance up to ~50% should be and is relatively easy, anything above that should be getting progressively harder to get and at the expense of not getting any other good nodes...
and have in mind that 30% inrease to critical damage is 50% more worth than 30% increase for critical chance as the base for critical damage is 150%

btw i am almost always playing CH spelcasters as they are the only builds to be able to have high survivabillity with shitty eq 20 levels under your level that the developers consider are the only drops i should get so i know how powerfull CH is

But only with spells or daggers. For everyone else, crits are underpowered. Also remember that spells have special crit nodes, which means that general crit chance can be buffed without overpowering spells at the same time (by either lowering the base crit chance of spells or nerfing the spell-specific crit nodes).

But apparently, since crits are intelligence aligned, only intelligence builds are supposed to have crits. So unless you plan on using a (partly) int-aligned weapon, just ignore crits.
Well, I tried making a crit ranger build. It suffers heavily unless you have a very, very good bow. But then again, if you have that good bow, you can skip all DPS nodes entirely, and just get a few attack speed ones, and you'll have a "working" build.

But certainly, some weapons need better base critical chance in my opinion.

well if you want to go with ch maul build than it is natural that you hafe to go out of your way to achieve it
spells, daggers and bows should have and have the best CH builds
Cit chance passive should just get a boost, make 15% 50%
