Why did you or your friend quit playing POE?
I quit two times during last few years due to lack of auction house/better trading system that doesn't waste my time that I could spend killing things and getting loot which is what I really enjoy in an ARPG. When I started playing again for third time I finally made a shop in forum and tried trading the PoE way. The only word i have for this system is "tedious". The supposed social aspect of it is non existent, most people don't even say thanks after trading and so communication is reduced to "my ho please" and "ty, gl". I would much rather prefer an auction house to do trading for me while I play the actual game.
The only friend of mine that played this game quit just a few weeks back for the second time due to death penalty that infuritated him. I can understand that as well, there's been many threads on it. He's aware that "You can quit any time if you don't like it". Which is exactly what he did. Neither him or me are casual gamers, but not hardcore either. I don't mean to complain, I only want to voice my opinion, so no hate replies please. So in short, trading and death penalty are the only thing that keep us from fully enjoying this otherwise great game. |

" That's what I said to your mama last night. OT: I do agree with you. I play self found. Not because I have strict principles not to trade, I just find it boring and tedious as hell. If GGG made some effort on the area, really SHOWING that they want people to trade, and not just saying it, I might trade an item or two. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Hard work/grinding.
In early 90's the games were very easy to learn and the difficulty was in gameplay. For example Mario. It was so simple. You just jumped, run, run fast and shoot. Yet you would play it again and again just to reach the next level, because it was challenging, yet you saw the glance of hope "I can do this, if try one more time". During the years the complexity of games has grown. And for many of mine friends PoE is this easy game until you get to Merciless Act 3. There it completely changes the face of the game. To progress further it requires a lot (VERY LOT) more things than just what you learned so far. You need to learn mechanics of the game. You need to have your build prepared and well thought. You need to learn various defenses against various special (map) bosses. You need to trade in order to get better things. This requires also to study and understand the market. And that is not fun for most of the people. Because it's not just a simple game anymore, you have to study lot of things and discipline your gameplay. You can no longer have fun with your average Joe duelist in order to be able to progress further. The fun you used to have until act 3 Merciless is gone. They try many builds with which they have much fun until they get to a point where they cannot progress more, because they have not simply study ALL the aspects of this game and they have not adopted their build to that from the beginning. So they try to progress and after failing again and again, they quit, because they don't even see the glance of hope "I can do this boss if I just get one more level with my Duelist" or "if I kite more perfectly". Because there is no hope. You can throw your average Joe duelist away, he won't be able to do Atziri, not even a lvl 77 Peity. Also people can get easily frustrated seeing that other's are facerolling the game with OP equip and impenetrable defenses, while they themselves struggle to get through this one lvl 66 boss. This game is fun as math is fun for some kids at school. My original account Dushan is banned.

" You actually only ever need to learn and abuse this. You dont farm, others farm. You dont do anything thinking about builds/defences etc. You just trade, flip, lowball and scam and "voila" you take a build from the list of godlike ones and faceroll the game. Try to farm up your character and you will cry and die of old age before that happens. But you can actually just play it and solo up to maps without much problems, but after that is when you hit the gear wall. Dernière édition par Zhatan#4250, le 29 juin 2015 à 12:48:57
