Do you like the Rampage league design?

You realize that Rampage is the SC league, right? Did you read the whole article?

Not interested. I'm one of those weird PoE players who sees no reason to play a temporary league. They would have had to do something crazy to get me to do a new build in one of the challenge leagues.

I'm going to play Beyond league regardless, but I think the killstreak mechanic is not bad. It seems more like a "for fun" kind of thing rather than a true game-changer though.

I get the impression that GGG uses these challenge mechanics to promote good playing habits among players who might otherwise default to poor habits. For instance, the Nemesis league encouraged players to start looking at the properties of rare mobs before attacking them. Invasion and Anarchy encouraged players to be careful about how they aggro packs, since they might bite off more than they can chew. Ambush encouraged players to do a bit of planning before "aggroing" mobs from a strongbox. Now Rampage is going to encourage players to keep moving and do efficient clears of zones.

Kill streaks kind of suck in D3, they'll probably kind of suck here too. It's one of those good in theory hard to execute things. Most people want to play at their own pace.

From what I've heard though, you can play at your own pace. This is just an extra bonus for trying to keep a streak going.

Saying Rampage sucks is like saying Vaal side areas suck because you don't like dealing with random map mods. There's a simple solution...ignore the Vaal side areas. They still provide value to people who are interested in the added challenge.

I think it's not a good idea to give such a huge advantage to a certain playstyle, effectively forcing people to play that way. Some people like to pick up every wisdom scroll, transmutation, rare, etc. And there are some people who even rarely pick up rares. And then there's everything in between. Some people like to play slow and safe, others go full kamikaze.

You can;t look at an abstract design (true with some numbers but they might not even make it to live unchanged) and decide "Man this is gonna undermine the core play pattern I like". It's not like items have a timer, and most of the time you aren't going to be looking at drops because drops in this game simply aren't worth slowing down for most of the time.

edit: Honestly if I was working on Rampage I'd have taken the greater rift route that D3 uses and during the buildup for the rampage no items would drop, and then at the end there would be a large explosion of items.

Did they ever change it so that more loot drops? I found it funny that you got less than you would have gotten normally.

Besides, OP called it right. It's supposed to push HC players to move faster than they normally would have. Risk v reward.

I've seen quintuple legend drops. Really the loss of blue drops is not much in D3.
