The primary reason combat sometimes feels clunky
I'd just rather a "miss" be a hit for a very low number. Every swing should at least connect...or maybe they are trying to hide lag?

In addition to the netcode issues posted above (and it could use A LOT of work), there are two other things that contribute to the feeling of sluggish combat:
1) No action queuing. This means If you press the attack button while in the middle of any other animation, you won't attack. Most games have a queue buffer zone where, close to the end of an animation you can queue up other commands that would be executed directly after. This is the cause behind people pressing buttons and nothing happening; they either tried it too close to a previous action, or they were stunned momentarily and tried their action during the stun animation. 2) actions have significant warm-up animations. In most games, the time it takes between pressing the attack button and seeing your character deal damage is very quick, often near-instant. In fact the worst weapons and abilities in action games are usually the large heavy weapons because the developers seem to think a long warm-up animation is a good balancing point. It's not, and the sooner melee players take enough improved attack speed passives that their attacks are faster than 1.1/sec, the sooner they can enjoy a significantly more responsive combat. I can just imagine what the screen would look like with floating text while killing a mob of 20-30.No thanks.

" So you turn it off in the options menu. Just like in Diablo. Options are always a welcome addition. |

Combat is extremely clunky in this game... Chalk in the eerily reminiscent D2 attack/hit delay, and the game becomes quite an annoyance.
But the one thing that no matter how much I try to ignore it or take my mind off it is... The horrid camera angle and zoom... If those 3 things were tweaked/changed/whatever... Then I could see myself playing this game much more than I am. Currently as in CB... I can play maybe 20-30mn spurts and then I just get annoyed and frustrated. It's really sad because this game has some really cool ideas and mechanics... But the piss poor camera, combat and server/packet delay really overwhelm everything good in the game. Also being unable to bind mouse buttons(4/5/etc) without 3rd party software/drivers in 2013 is really freaking stupid considering this is a PC exclusive game... " I do admit that I'd like to be able to zoom out just a couple ticks more >.< |

Horrid Camera angle? Is this your first ARPG or something?
Also some of the misses might also be caused by the innate 5% evade that everyone gets, wether you use RT or not. |

The clunkiness seems to me more related to online lag. Im sure this will get better. Its BETA after all.

The only real problem i have is that it's hard to specifically click on an enemy when everythign is crowded.... It gets really, really bad when you have Summons yourself.

I thought the clunkiness comes from:
1. Lack of animation canceling 2. Relative to other games (like Titan Quest, Sacred, Torghlight, etc.), the turn speed is slower 3. Small hitboxes for melee when close to enemies 4. Hold position not stopping your movement when pressed always (as in canceling a previous click to move, this is standard in the above mentioned games as well, relative comparison part 2) 5. When enemies are too close to you certain attacks like Ground Slam appear to start on the other side of them, missing them completely It does feel better as ranged with fast attack speed though. =P |
