Content.ggpk corrupted
When I opened PoE launcher today and notice that there's new update and while waiting for update this error showed up "Your pack file has become corrupted. Currently the only way to fix this is to delete Content.ggpk and download it again by running the client."
I often encounter this error for sometime but I always got to fixed it by copying the COntent.ggpk from my PoE on my laptop. But when this error occur today on my PC I tried doing the same fix but still the error shows up. So I tried running the PoE on my laptop and let it patch for hoping that I can just copy the patched game to my desktop but the Corrupted ggpk showed up also. I've already tried the PackCheck which it opens and closes suddenly. And I've tried the ggpk defragment but still the error shows up. Is there any other way to fix this error without going for downloading again? Coz I really have very slow internet which when I re-download the game it would probably take 24hrs. Please help. If the the pack check doesn't fix it then you are stuck with downloading it again, you might want to download through a vpn though to bypass your ISP's caching.

I've fixed it. Good thing I gotta zipped folder of PoE client on my flash drive.
After copying and overwritting the Content.ggpk on my Desktop it runs and patches smoothly. Making a backup of PoE folder and compressing it into zip file does really help. Dernière édition par kreator311#6652, le 30 janv. 2014 à 07:57:59

If you have Windows 7 (or higher), I believe you can also right-click the Path of Exile folder and choose to "Restore Previous Version" (if enabled) which allows you to roll-back contents to a specific snapshot. Sometimes that can help rather than downloading the whole thing again.

" great idea, I tried it and it didn't work, but this is very good to know for other applications in the future. Thanks for sharing. |

" It should work if you go back far enough. You might have to go back a few versions to find one that works. |

" awe well I think I euchred myself. when I installed 7 I reduced the restore point allocation limit to the minimum. which is probably why there was only one restore point for poe. Now I know those many many gigs of restore points are not necessarily a total waste. Assumed it was all gonna be numerous windows restore points, but its allocated to a bit of everything isn't it? redownloading gppk. :D thanks. |

I don't know if the "Restore Points" are the same thing as the "Previous Version". I don't run Windows, so I don't really know the intricate details of how that all works.
From what I know about the Restore Points, they're created when software is updated/installed in case something fails you can roll-back to a prior version. These Restore Points are also created on some semi-regular schedule and you can also manually create "restore points" whenever you want to as well. From what I know, these "Restore Points" are mainly for the windows system files.. things that prevent Windows from operating correctly, and aren't really related to everything on the drive. The "Previous Version" stuff is just a shadow copy made when the contents of a directory are updated (and maybe only in Program Files?). I believe this might also be configurable, but I'm not sure how. I'd need to look it up more. |

" hrm... bit to think about there. I can say for sure that there have been several patches to poe during the time I have had 7 installed, enough to have had more than 1 restore point for the poe files / directory but there was only one present. I have not messed with anything specific other than windows restore allocation size... I immediately noticed it wanted a lot of space, and scaled it back... I do not know what all this entailed. I simply expected that rather than keeping the last 17 settings windows had, it would only keep the last 2 or 3... that was my assumption. when you mentioned restore points for user software I instantly assumed (again) that this would fall under the windows restore filespace. assumptions based on assumptions... I should be a pundit :D in a distantly related note, the redownload of the ggpk file worked, it just took a lot of bandwidth for a while. "Previous Version" seems like the best bet to try first for anyone with a GPPK corruption issue, it sure cant hurt. Hopefully they can avoid a few gigs of dl. |

After a little digging I found this page which explains it a little better.
Looks like it IS part of the "Restore Point" stuff, but it only makes a backup if the file has changed since the last "Restore Point" was made... and if you set your "Restore Points" to be small, then chances are, it's only the "last" version... which might not work in some cases. |
