Molten Shell explodes while Immortal Call is active

Hi guys,

My marauder just started using CWDT > Immortal Call > Molten Shell > Increased Duration

They all trigger fine, but with the extended duration on Immortal Call I noticed that Molten Shell will explode before the IC duration has expired.

Since IC makes you immune to physical damage- shouldn't the mitigation counter be suspended on Molten Shell?

The behaviour I would expect is that the Molten Shell mitigation doesn't start counting until the IC buff has expired.

Thanks!

Molten Shell adds up all mitigated Physical Damage, regardless of source. With Immortal Call, you mitigate a whole lot of Physical Damage because you're taking nothing at all.

Note that Molten Shell doesn't absorb any Damage, it only grants Armour.

IC does not set my physical mitigation stat to 100%, nor does it set my block to 100%.

Molten Shell states

"
Summons fiery elemental shields providing additional armour for a short duration. If cumulative physical damage prevented by your blocking or armour reaches a threshold, the shields explode outwards, dealing fire damage to surrounding enemies.

The damage is not being prevented by armor or block. It is not being received at all:

Immortal Call

"
Discharges Endurance Charges, making the character invulnerable to physical damage for a short time, proportional to how many endurance charges were expended.

The fact that the mechanic for 'making me invulnerable' is being accomplished by setting a hidden mitigation stat to 100% shouldn't matter.

My guess is that the incoming damage is being mitigated normally, then after those calculations, is being set to 0 by Immortal Call. I would expect the reverse, that the damage is simply set to 0 before you mitigate it.
Immortal Call grants 100% Physical Damage Reduction, which is the same mitigation stat as Endurance Charges and Armour. It does not set Damage Taken to zero. I believe the Character Sheet does actually show your PDR% as 100% with IC active. Check the Defenses tab.

I did, it doesn't. That is why I posted that it doesn't, above. :P

What does armor grant? Physical Damage Reduction.
What does Immortal Call grant? 100% Physical Damage Reduction.
From what does Molten Shell calculate physical damage prevented? From Physical Damage reduction.

Naturally if your PDR is 100%, then you prevent 100% of physical damage.

The "bug" here is that the molten shell (and maybe immortal call) skill description isn't perfectly accurate. The skills however are working correctly. Immortal Call mitigates all physical damage, it doesn't "remove" the damage you receive from being calculated.

Doesn't Immortal Call mitigate all damage that YOU take? It has no impact on the Firey shield surrounding you though as that isn't you.

The fiery shield is just a graphic effect. It doesn't do anything, it's not an entity that can take Damage.
IC does NOT set your physical damage reduction stat on your sheet to 100%. Neither does it set your Block to 100%.

The mechanic it could be using to prevent you from taking damage may well be 'mitigate 100% of damage', in that case, the tooltips and descriptions are unclear.
