If you already have a Path of Exile account on Steam, then that is the account that will be linked to the website (overwriting any other site account you had with the same email/login information). If you do NOT have a Path of Exile account THROUGH Steam (you've never downloaded or attempted to play Path of Exile through Steam), then when linked from the site, your Site account will be playable through both Steam and Classic PoE clients.

It is largely dependent on the state of your accounts.
well i just made a new account on steam now i cant link my non steam account curses!

You can.. you'll just need to contact support to get the right accounts linked in the right places. If you want to keep both accounts, then create a secondary email account to attach the other PoE account to. Be clear in your description and intent to support if you decide to email them about it. The more clear you are about the expected outcome, the more likely you are to get prompt support and have them get it right the first time without a lot of back and forth.

Good luck.

this contradicts your post on which will be used when link says GGG account will be ultimately used in place of steam when linking im still unsure maybe its better if i dont link them at all
They would know better than me the specifics.

From what I've seen around the forums, the order of linking completely makes a different and it depends on what accounts are created where.

The BEST bet is to just not create 2 accounts. Create 1 account (on the website) then link it directly to Steam BEFORE playing on Steam. That way you only have 1 account linked in both places.

If you fear you've messed up, then you can just email support. They can fix it to be like you want as long as you're clear in what it is you want. It's fine to link them, but if you're having doubts, don't link them yourself. Contact support so they can help you link them properly.
Is there anyway I can delete the account created on my steam? I literally made a new account through steam before you replied to my answer.

It gave me the option to link an existing POE account or create a new one.
However, linking an EXISTING non-steam Path of Exile account to a Path of Exile IN-GAME STEAM menu says I would lose the original account which I found unclear.

A few days later I found out that the website gave the option to MANAGE ACCOUNT -> STEAM sign in and link account to steam. Which was probably the way to go.. (b4 i created POE steam acct.)

but instead I've created two accounts (GGG website and POE steam) and NOW linking whether its through WEBSITE (non-steam acct SNYC TO steam) or through STEAM (SYNCING a non steam Path of Exile acct. TO STEAM) sounds like to me the STEAM has the priority of overwriting my MAIN account which was created on the GGG website.
You just need to email support and be done with it.

They're the only ones who can actually do anything with your account, and the sooner you contact them, the sooner it gets resolved.
