Limit FPS

I started playing PoE not a long time ago, and the first big problem I encoutered was my laptop really really overeating. I then noticed that the game was running between 60 and 110 fps! The Vsync didn't do anything. So I guess it is really important that there is a fps limiter in options so that players can avoid this poblem. I countered this problem by instaling bandicam : http://www.bandicam.com/

and using theirs fps limiter. So far is working great but would be a lot better if it was native to the game.

What type of monitor are you using? CRT/LCD? Also, do you have your refresh rate on your graphics card manually set? Vsync, from my understanding, should set the refresh rate within the game to that of your monitor. If you're monitor is higher than 60-110hz, it wouldn't limit the FPS until it got to this point.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.

No idea what tipe of monitor is but is refresh rate was set to 60 hz... But still the vsync wasn't working correctly. Without bandicam I get between 40 and 110 fps oscilating. With bandicam I get constantly 35 fps ( the value I ste it up with). In both cases Vsync was on.
Vsync works fine for me on both my desktop and my laptop(on both windows and mac osx). Sounds more like a bug then a suggestion. Not sure why the in game Vsync option isn't working for you though.

The sugestion part is adding a fps limiter in game. The Vsync part could be a bug.
Except Vsync is in the game and limits your FPS(when it is working). So Vsync not working for you should be put in the bug report forums so hopefully the Devs or someone with more knowledge of it can help you get it fixed.

ATI or Nvidia? Do you have some settings changed in your respective video card control options that could be causing the in game Vsync settings to not work? I know you can set options, or at least you used to be able to, to overwrite any program settings and rely solely on on the ATI/Nvidia control settings. That could explain why Vsync is not working if that is the case. Or it could be something entirely different.

I have no idea. The fact i my laptop has 60 hz refresh rate and even so I prefer using a lower fps so t doesn't don't overheat. Even if the Vsync worked properly on my computer I would get 60 fps the option to set my fps limit alows me to control the processing power my computer takes and makes it run reall smooth since with 35 fps it doesn't overheat at all. Vsync would allow me to set at 60 fps but at times it is still too much.

Most video cards these days will come with a control panel of sorts when you download the driver for it that's specific to the video card where you can limit the refresh rate directly - this could actually be the problem if the limit is set too high.

Support this heavily!

A lot of gamers play with vertical-sync always forced off, thus resulting in overheating of graphic cards in quite a lot of situations if the game doesn't limit FPS by itself, as we saw in e.g. D3 as well when it launched.

So please add an option to limit FPS, otherwise you might end up with lots of gfx-cards on your conscience :/

I was going to suggest the same thing when I saw this post.

A FPS limiter would be a wonderful thing.

I don't want to use Vsync because it uses more ressources when I want to economise them. Moreover, 30 fps would be perfectly fine for me... and my laptop temperature.

Please do it.
