Is Windows XP Compatible with POE?

I was playing Path of exile a couple of days ago, and i was getting very poor fps...a lot of the players recommend i get windows xp and they said that they were running it off xp.

I just now thought.

Is windows xp even compatible with this game?
Will i be able to download and install the game without any problems with xp?

Was i being trolled? 0_0

If you are running Vista, then XP or 7.

If you are running 7 now, don't waste your time reverting.

Bump up your RAM instead.

on xp game runs good-40-70fps most time 70fps depend from you pc
running xp mode in win7:

It is compatible to XP, but there are some "restrictions" - you are limited to 3,25GB Ram use by 32 bit, and at least for me it seemed like there are some issues with huge memory-demanding applications like POE if you have more RAM installed (4GB). Based on this limit, you run more often/easily into memory handling problems within the game, like the common "out of memory" error.
And I'd expect by the improvements with the new OS' (thread management, task performance, driver updates...) that XP runs somewhat slower than 7 in general.

If you're getting low FPS I'd look into reducing graphics settings instead...

there is a 64bit xp.. however if you're running the 32bit version of xp, that other ~4.25 gig of ram in your system isnt even being seen by the computer let alone being used.
Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ...
I am runninx xp64 with 8 gigs of ram and i still hit the memory error a couple times a night. (Usually right after i see something cool drop)
Good luck finding drivers/software that supports x64 XP.

People with moderatly decent hardware should be capable of 100+ fps, and high end will just steamroll it.

I'm using -.500 LoD with forced AA levels, while maintaining 80+ fps.

The problem isn't your OS, it's your hardware. The performance impact from Windows 7 is minimal, and it has nothing to do with ram, you don't need 4+GB for PoE. I was using a crappy 555 rig with 2GB of ram to play PoE for awhile and it ran fine on 32 bit Windows 7 except I'd run out of ram from time to time.
