[2.4] How to smash Heads. Extremely detailed guide about the Facebreaker gloves and builds!
As always thank you for the quick response I suppose I could try and reach for the BoR, but then I lose out on my 6l carcass jack is the build overall better with a BoR instead of having abyssus and my 6l armor? I am going to invest in new boots today with some good resist mods to free up some passive points to get the shield nodes you were talking about. I will also begin getting some quality gems, and again thanks for the help I really appreciate it. This build even if its not close to yours in terms of damage and survivability is extremely fun for me. Reminds me of diablo 2 days using a barbarian whirlwinding everything to death.

Is legacy BoR better than Abyssus + 6L Carcass Jack?
In my opinion it's not... but it really depends. I have a legacy BoR ( see below ) and the loss in damage and AoE radius is pretty severe. On the other hand BoR gives 15% extra block chance, more life ( from 6200 to 6600 in my case ), and you lose the 40%-50% extra physical damage taken of the Abyssus. If you are playing in Hardcore i'd say go for BoR , otherwise ... idk .. it's up to you. I guess it's a matter of personal preferences. DPS with Abyssus + 6L Carcass Jack = 41559 DPS with Legacy BoR = 28177 EDIT: And another thing! Don't forget to buy the Rumi's Concoction flask whn you can afford it. It will cap your block just when you need it most ( when you fight a boss, when you face a rogue exile, when you encounter a physical reflect pact etc. ) "I'm going to show you pain you never knew existed, you're going to see a whole new spectrum of pain!!!!! Just gave my Build a try with full armor instead of armor + shield
Some might prefere it since its cheaper. Items are, no big suprise this time:
Armour Version
Shield Version
Block Chance with Tempest Shield, Aegis and 4% SoL: 69/52 Block Chance with Tempest shield, Lioneyes and DPS Amu: 63/0 Also you can use one of those if you like to portal ;) Biggest pro would be the invulnerability to any kind of reflect and the brutal instant leech it provides. You'll either have the choice between Determination and Herald of Ashes. Determination provides in my case ~8k Armor (10% Damage Reduction) while HoA (lvl 17 still) equals to 7k DPS. In case you are using HoA you are free to use Tempest Shield as a third aura, theres plenty of Mana left. My DPS values (IB) are ~72k while using the Damage Amu/HoA and 52k while being fully block based. Reckoning would be 18.5k/13.2k under the same condidions as above. Either way Korgoth, you should reconsider your shield and boot recommendations. You make it look like Aegis/Strides are no viable option. You seem to forget about the point that all the block nodes also boost your shield, i end up with more HP Life+Shield than i would have pure Life and there are even the shield replenishing boosts. The only downside is the reduction of your armor value and thus a lower phys damage reduction overall. PN: Haegar_der_Schreckliche Dernière édition par DerPizzadieb#4870, le 28 déc. 2014 02:20:03

Hmm strange .. i never intended to make it look like Aegis + Rainbowstrides is not a viable option i've reread the part about those items and ... i've mentioned their pros and cons...
Anyway for me .. they are just not my thing ... it's not fun to get one-shotted by Palace Dominus due to the lack of armour ( it happened to me ). I'll be online in a few minutes to check the number differences between lioneye + rare boots + damage amulet and aegis and aegis + rainbowstrides + lazwar amulet It's interesting that since i use cyclone and carcass jack i would have even more ES but even less Armour. ok so the numbers with aegis are armour - 6070 life - 5964 es - 837 life + es - 6801 242 ES replenished per block with lioneye armour - 16228 life - 6287 es 300 life + es - 6587 if i take IR and use grace the armour will go up so it will be better i guess ( probably around 9k armour and 360 es per block ), tho ~15% evasion chance will be lost. And i most certainly prefer not to use lazhwar and rainbowstrides , saffel's frame on swap is more than enough in my opinion to deal with spell damage that you receive. So in the end the question is more armour vs 4% ( if you have legacy Aegis ) armour gained as Es when you block. Both ways are good and viable. Just did a very quick map and i've remembered why personally i don't prefer aegis.
Due to the high killing speed ( thus not having the chance to block that often ) and the uncapped block chance around ( thus blocking only half of the attacks ) 2/3 of the time im running with 0/837 ES. At the middle of the map i've put on the rainbowstrides and lazwar, my damage and life both suffered greatly and still maybe half of the time i was running around with no ES whatsoever. I guess it's just not for me ^^ But i'm happy that it works out for you! "I'm going to show you pain you never knew existed, you're going to see a whole new spectrum of pain!!!!! Like a RAINBOW!"

Weird, while i definetly noticed the block nerf i still forgot about tempest shield, which should boost it noticeably again.
I dont play the facebreaker too often anymore though PN: Haegar_der_Schreckliche

Well tempest shield is nice .. tho i can never decide if 25% mana reserved is worth the 4% block chance.

Hey man thanks a lot for putting all that work into the thread, I've started doing a facebreaker build on torment 3 days ago and Ive steamrolled from normal to merciless in no time with a mediocre pair of gloves, meginords girdle and a perandus alone.
I think that alone is a testament to the strength of the concept and I feel it is going to get even better. So since im approaching somewhat expensive gear choices and I cant buy everything all at once, in which order would you buy (on TORMENT!): a perfectly rolled pair of facebreakers (>=799), abyssus with a low inc phys dmg taken roll, lionseyes remorse with decent rolls, saffels frame for swap, carcass jack 6S5L, armor based 6S5L, jewelery each >1ex each, boots with res, 30% movementspeed? |
|
I'd say start with a 5l chest (carcass if you are using cyclone)
Abyssus next... don't worry too much about the roll "I'm going to show you pain you never knew existed, you're going to see a whole new spectrum of pain!!!!! Like a RAINBOW!"
