Crackdown on RMT's

Trading Currency Items away to other players is now blocked until you have a level 25+ character on your account. This rule does not apply to existing accounts created before this patch. It does not affect Scrolls of Wisdom or Portal Scrolls. This change is designed to disrupt RMT and should not affect legitimate players very much.

sadly, it won't have any impact at all. Those who were in the early closed beta should know why.

Please explain why it won't have effect.

At the moment GGG is banning loads of level 1 players every day. By forcing them to reach level 25 time after time, they may decide to go somewhere else.

I was under the impression that most of them only run the low level areas due to increased currency drops, this is forcing them to actually play the game or go spread their cancer elsewhere.
That was my take on it anyway.

RMT sites will just buy levelservices on the botterboard.

Players buying stuff have to level accounts themselves.


Of course GGG can easily filter those players but it's won't affect the market that much.

If D2jsp gets destroyed the RMT market will slowly die too.

not possible. Currency items are bound on pickup to your account until lvl 25

Because account creation, character creation, lvling, farming and muling are all automated. All they need to do is increase their bot run time and problem solved.

You have to understand, the programs they use is a full package that requires no time and maintainence at all. All the sellers would see is an inventory log and corresponding accounts.

This is the problem that the devs are facing.

Won't work. I considered something like filling inventory and sell stuff so the vendor drops currency on the floor.

In early CB you still could drop items on the floor in Town.

The first attempt will be finding exploits of course then they will do as I described.

Customers must level their own characters+ Botterboard level service.
