Crackdown on RMT's

I don't think you can actually stop RMTs. I just think you can make life more difficult so they will mostly migrate elsewhere.

I also think that forcing new users to level 30 will provide the devs with much more data to analyse and recognise bot-patterns or farm-pattenrs an ban based on those.

And at one point they will have enugh data to go after the buyers. And then it will stop.

Making their life harder is good. Lvl 25 is a problem, remember that profit/time=value.
i think its a valid move on GGG part and im sure they are doing and will continue to do other things to prevent rmt screwing the game.

what i dont get is why there is lots of people complaining when nothing will change in their playing experience
It does change our playing experience, cause a big part of the sold currency comes from hacks.

or did you think the rmt sites play for the stuff they sell?
Less currency coming in => less inflation.

That would be a good thing.

I reported probably 20-30 RMT guys spamming ridiculous trades for exalted orbs yesterday.

Feels good. Will continue to do it as I see it.
I think the level 25 restriction wasn’t made to be something to “stop RMT” in its tracks. It does slow them down, but the real purpose is that the RMT characters will usually follow a very similar pattern especially a bot. This restriction gives GGG 25 levels of data about a character’s behavior that will help them sniff out these guys. Well done. I can't see how this would any effect on me.
On one side it slows them down to create muleaccounts.

On the other side once they got level 25 they can give items to new level 1 accounts as their customers.

Also there could be several loopholes.

For example level 1 leaves area/game--> Still allocated?
They have another tool at their disposal. That's good. Keep it up.

Please explain why it won't have effect.

drop trading. thats what we did in closed beta.

not possible. Currency items are bound on pickup to your account until lvl 25

Even after leaving the instance and/or party. Maybe after the 5 min timer runs out, didn't check that. Now I will have to remind that guy to pay my lousy 5 augmentations (!) back when he reaches lvl 25...

Bad thing is that once picked up, any currency belongs to the sub-lvl25 trading partner. So you cannot stop the trade if you notice that something is not only wrong, but very wrong. Well, no big loss in here, but still a nasty limitation. Yet, if that is useful against RMT, I'm fine with that in general.
