Nothing like a 10 minute session to make you want to quit all GGG games forever.

Okay so since you've bailed out, let me post a little PSA for anybody who is facing the same 'problem'.

This mechanic was never intended to be played this way; if it was, then obtaining locks would've been somewhat deterministic.
Don't push things to the absolute extreme and then complain when something goes wrong.

To the developers: do better and perform minimal play tests with personnel actually thinking like an end game player; start treating this game as an actual beta and tweak things more often than once per quarter, or this title is going to be in development for the next half decade.

Very true. I just want to repeat this PSA. Don't stress yourself out playing videogames! xD No one expects you to push things to the absolute extreme. You are doing it to yourself. Why not focus on content and pacing that actually gives you joy, instead?

Okay, that's a good point. I had to think about that a bit.

Ultimately, I think there are different kinds of games for different audiences. Some people want to do stuff they can't in real life. Some people want to have fun. Some want a challenge or a grind. Some don't. Some people are collaborative, some competitive, while some want to play on their own.

In that case, it doesn't make sense to play a game that does not cater to you. PoE seems to cater to a competitive, market driven audience. It's not quite as competitive as counterstrike, or league of legends, but it's competitive enough for us to get bothered about someone else's div/hour. That's the audience.

I think if someone wants to play as something they cannot be in real life, then yeah, I think don't bother with PoE. Maybe try Titan Quest 2, or No Rest For The Wicked. Those are both great games that are designed for a single player experience. I think they cater to the type of player you describe and do a good job, so don't they deserve the time, money and attention?

I just realize this kind of sounds like gate-keeping. I don't mean to. I want people to enjoy the games they play. Towards that, I think it's prudent to be picky about what you play and spend your own precious time on. No one suffers but yourself, if you keep running against a wall.
