Armor also applies to elemental dmg wording? + Other feedback

This wording is so extremely confusing to many MANY people. Why dont you just specify that local armor reduces elemental dmg taken and by how much?
Local armor reduces elemental dmg taken by 24% Example: Gloves with 100 armor reduces elemental dmg taken by 24. And yes ArmoUr is the british variant of Armor, same for Color and ColoUr but please can we make wording more efficient and use Armor instead of Armour? Language evolves as does video games :] Btw Essence drain contagion is 158317542149 times better than most lvling builds. Is this intended? Also you just added a lot of time to the already slog of the campaign with the Vaal Temple. Yes you can skip it but its great xp and some nice item upgrades the first campaign. Please dont make seasonal events be this intrusive if you want to give us an endgame. My opinion on the vaal temple during campaign. Not in endgame yet. Dernier bump le 17 févr. 2026 à 11:15:59

I agree that the wording can be vague or misleading.
It’s funny you mentioned that because I asked that question and someone said it applied to damage not mitigation. Things like Black Flame are also a little mysterious, it took some digging but, It’s possible that Black Flame cannot double dip items for both chaos damage and fire damage. Allegedly it can only use one or the other when both are on an item. At least that’s the conclusion someone had came up with and told me. The Black Flame passive doesn’t specify if chaos damage would now apply to fire damage as well. Maybe it does and the person was wrong. We can look at the character stats, But there’s no way to test damage on a test dummy. |

" Wait, dosent black flame just convert fire to chaos? The real confusing thing is what does it scale with after you get that node.... It would make sense if it scaled with both because all your damage is now chaos, so anything + to chaos should work but it converts fire so any other + fire should also work because it is then converted but I think I heard it dosent work this way and only scales chaos after or something. Very unclear. |

" I agree, the only issue I could see is being able to triple stack spell damage, with fire damage and chaos damage. The scaling alone might be really strong if you can scale the total of chaos damage converted from flame, with chaos damage. As far as benefiting from both fire and chaos passives, I have no clue. I haven't tested it personally but someone tested it and told me only based on looking at their character stats, that item mods only apply one or the other but not both, if both are on an item. Not sure if that's true, idk if there is any reference to it. Dernière édition par TwitchGLHFsport#2155, le 16 févr. 2026 à 16:13:40

" Ohhhh gotcha. So the conversion actually applies to the base damage BEFORE any modifiers. Ok that makes sense now. So once the base damage is converted it can now only scale from the one. That makes more sense. Thank you for clarifying. So for extra clarity, would +Fire Spells be applied first since it modifies the base damage then? Or is + Chaos Spells the way to scale the skill level. Based on my current understanding, +Fire Spells would scale the base damage, then the conversion happens, THEN all + Spell Damage and + Chaos Damage applies. Is this correct? |

I thought you just got % of Armor as extra Elemental Damage for a while.
Mostly because it just makes no sense at all that armor provides elemental damage DR. Only one other RPG game I've ever played did that and it was stupid there too. Diablo 4. Conversion is just bad. It insures secondary effects of the damage like Ignite, Shock, whatever is not going to have any potency. Blackflame only works because things have low Chaos Res. It should swap on it's way out. You take fire nodes but use a Chaos Curse. No one would take 100% of Lightning damage converted to Fire the way it works now. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

" well that clears it up, thanks, didn't know that word had its own description. dang so if you get black flame you basically have to respec everything fire and convert it to chaos? for this posts topic, when they say "applies to elemental damage" its only lacking 1 word that can make it clear. "applies to elemental damage mitigation" if they really want to get the point across "local armor applies 23% of armor as flat elemental damage resistance" or mitigation They have to be extremely careful with the wording and be as descriptive as possible because its very easy to misunderstand many things in this game. then again for the item mod, there is only so much room they can fill. " In diablo 3 I had gotten an item that scaled % of max vitality converted to extra thorn damage (or something like that it was weird) The gameplay was absolutely silly with thorn damage being the primary damage. literally stood there and did nothing to kill all the bosses. |

" I've personally never liked Thorns as a mechanic. It either doesn't work or works too well. There's no middle ground. I don't mind reflection mechanics, just not passive ones. Something like Reflect all damage for 5 seconds when you raise your shield. Encase targets in a magnetic field that redirects projectiles until the field erupts for % damage absorbed. There's just way more fun ways of doing it. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac
