When i start first character, i literally do 2 mod magic maps until i reach t15, then i do 4 mod t15s until i get to like 90 ish level, at that point build has no problems doing 6 mod maps.

There is no good reason not to use the old portal system from POE 1.
Masochists can always artificially limit themselves to how many portals they use while the rest can have their retries when needed. That way, both get their cookie. The way it is now, only one gets to have it, which is questionable design at the very least. One has to wonder about the mentality of people that are so opposed to granting something to others with zero impact to themselves.
