She probably had increased aoe which made nova wider than intended. If only GGG removed exp penalty and attempt limit until they fix all this crap... sigh, who am I kidding?:)


Yes i saw this and I had the same thought...

Then i went on poe2wiki + poe2db and it seems there's no room mod that increased AoE to monsters in the temple.
I know there's a medallion that can add map mods but i never used it in my temples....

I guess i'll never know the truth about this stupid one shot mechanic and i'll have to get really good dps to quickly kill her once she reaches 20% life...
It could've been increased cast speed, if nova was implemented like "channel for X seconds". Meaning with buff she does more channel ticks in same time. I coded arpg combat system myself and know common kinds of human mistakes.

To your main question, there should be a safe corner against nova, otherwise it is pointless mechanic.
main issue for me is that vaporizing bosses without a proper battle is extremely unfun
maybe this is ok in late-endgame routine mapping

but one-shotting pinnacle bosses is frustrating an cheap

the victory feels absolutely hollow

all the hype, lore, buildup, and dev work+care put into Atziri only for her to be a punching bag, vaporized in 5 seconds feels like such a waste and just sucks
it should feel as a proper battle that you've been building up to for the whole playthrough

hope in the coming patches they rebalance this aspect of the game
