I am once again asking for spells to be revisited

To add on to my post, i feel like as if spells were designed and balanced for a different iteration of the game and were never brought up to the current state of the game.

It's the spell selection that's bad. Cold spells are all slow. Fire spells are effectively just Fireball and Lightning spells are effectively all the same.

Also the infusion was maybe a good idea on paper but if I want to be a fire mage why would I want to spec into cold damage just to press more buttons and get less over all split damage?

But but the vision is about combo building, builder spender skills style, if attack skills have to do so why can’t spells also have to do it? Probably that’s how they came up with this idea.
In my experience the only early Elemental option was Frost Bolt + Frost Bomb with cascade Ice Snap. Bolts and Bomb do half damage now.

Essence Drain + Contagion was better than anything else already. Then Snap being changed killed the momentum of that setup entirely. You can use Fireball earlier which is okay long as you constantly use Living Bomb and Snap with Mana pots injected through an IV.

Firestorm still is a joke. Ember Fuselage is a comedy show. The Infusion logic of some skills makes no sense like Firewall. Why can't the fire spell be fire infused?

Infusions aren't a bad concept but as pickups they're terrible. All mages are Chonks. No. Just No.

infusion is garbage and needs to be taken out the game.

they need to put the god damn stormweaver BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS
I also think the infusion system needs a rework and spells in general.
The problem with infusions:
They do not feel optional, they feel necessary. Because of that it is only another problem you have to fix (like mana etc.) and once you got it, you just go with it. It is no fun mechanic at all.

The problem with spells:
They just feel terrible for some reason in my opinion. I really loved Arc in Poe1 but in Poe2, the whole animation and execution feels very awkward. And Fire and Cold spells, they seem to not have any real usable spells except for something like Fireball or cold bolt that you have to scale into 1000 projectiles.

I wonder what the thinking behind the infusions was. I mean, it's already difficult enough to see anything with all the effects and stuff, plus all the area denial going on. Now we are supposed to walk through the things we cannot see let alone safely reach.
I think the remnants/infusion mini game is fine. They're optional for those who like to make combos with many different skills.(I like that style)
Sorc is plenty powerful, just get a decent + to levels weapon.

Agree that the spawning of the remnants in the middle of monster packs or right on top of bosses is less than ideal. I wish they spawned at your own location or jumped to you instead of us having to pick them up in the middle of monster packs. And indeed they are very hard to see when there's lots of stuff on the screen... Though I do like how they make us think of making combos for extra powerful effects.
Infusions are awesome whatchu guys talking about? Just put 5 skill points into the ranged pick up nodes and you won't ever even notice them anymore. I am just running straight ahead all the time now and am at max infusions...

When I started sorc for the first time this league I was surprised by how dogshit her damage was act 1, I had to actively press 4 buttons, lightning orb, frost orb, fire wall and then ice shards to deal ANY DAMAGE whatsoever. Coming from witch this was jarring, but I thought it was fun having to do combos and not having a 1 button clear.

Then I got to act 2 and found a +2 cold spell staff and I started gaming. Sure I still needed 3 button presses to deal "big damage", but the synergie that was available to me was crazy. Anyways at first I cleared everything super fast and almost instantly with frost bomb, frostbolt + ice nova then I got snap and pretty much started rushing through the game faster than I ever did as witch, nothing could touch me anymore and I had all the infusions I could dream off.

I really really like that sorceress wants to press more than 1 button at any given time and from my observation the need for more buttons disappears the further you get into the game, which is sad.

The one thing I'll say is that I find it weird that frost bomb is so amazing it practically wants to be in every single elementalist build for the high magnitude exposure, but you totally can play solo element or multi element no problem.
My guess was that after 0.1 when they started to force the combo wombo gameplay, they ported a lot of spells to be used in this combot gameplay and since it was probably lacking viability, they tried to synergize them with infusions. However not all spells were put in that category, those spells who werent are now the spells we use through tutorial cause they werent nerfed like contagnation+ed, lightning spear or arrow. ima trying to say these spells that are a lot better at start are the spells that are not (yet) in the visionary gameplay mode, shortly - unbalanced.
Well, if they adapted monster behaviour to fit the combo playstyle, I'd be all in for it. As of now, the player is slow and comboing while the monsters are zerging ...
I tried to league start as spark/arc sorc and it was absolutely painful. I basically completely flatlined mid act 2 and rerolled LA deadeye like everyone else.

I'm now revisiting my sorc and using +skills items from trade she at least kind of works. I can do T14 - T15 maps but my survivability is very bad (still have a ton of gearing holes). Stuff can die but the mana costs are nuts lol.

Largely I agree though. The only real way to power up spells is with +spells on gear. I have +6 on my staff, +2 on my amulet, and +1 on a unique ring that is otherwise crap. Once I get to level 80ish I'll switch to wand + focus. That said lightning bolt on the staff is actually a very useful autoattack for 0 mana and with a lot of cast speed can do a shocking amount of damage.

I think the biggest issue is now the only way for me to really scale damage further is to just keep leveling so I can use higher level skill gems. The base arc I'm using is 17 since that's the max I can equip. So, unlike other classes, you're SUPER capped on damage almost exclusively by the base gem level.

IMO there just needs to be some more way to scale it. I also have %lightning damage on one of my rings. I'm also not a huge fan of the base weapon you use determining the base spell, as well as the level of that spell. It just feels like casters need to be way more diligent about cycling their weapons and keeping their gems maxed out to keep up with the level curve than any other archetype.

As for infusions, they need something for sure. It's strange they aren't just frenzy/power/endurance charges - it seems like this was just to deliberately limit skill synergies which just doesn't feel very PoE to me.

If they want to keep them some stuff needs to change. Either the base max of 3 needs to be way higher - like 5. Or some interactions needs to change, eg the Unleash skill will consume 3 infusions if you have them which sucks cause that's your full stack.

They could also just consider making it not a gen/spend but just a generator and you stack up a buff and when the stack expires the buff ends. This would be comfy.

I at lest DO like how strong they make the skill, I think my arc listed DPS goes from 15k to like 45k when I have the infusion - though I don't know if this is factoring in the increased chain or not. Either way they feel strong when I cast an infused spell.

TL;DR - I also think spells need some work. They can be very strong (and mana hungry) once you stack +spells and the infusions are very powerful, but they're annoying and jank to collect (and snap becomes basically mandatory).

As an aside, the visual noise of the entire screen being shocked and covered in abyss ground has killed me more than once. I genuinely cannot visually parse a damn thing that's happening to dodge it. This is a big issue but sort of besides the discussion.
