I am once again asking for spells to be revisited

It is jarring how bad spells are compared to everything else early game. I am trying a lich with Black Covenant, I am currently in act 2 and fireball cannot even one shot a white mob when infused while if i change to Essence Drain and Contagion I can clear the whole screen with one cast.

THe damage in early levels is just too low

Personally not a fan of the infusion play style and I think I share what you are saying early on.


You end up chasing infusions and not really just using skills you like. I actually gravitated towards staff skills this patch more so then basic spells
Mash the clean
To add on to my post, i feel like as if spells were designed and balanced for a different iteration of the game and were never brought up to the current state of the game.

It's the spell selection that's bad. Cold spells are all slow. Fire spells are effectively just Fireball and Lightning spells are effectively all the same.

Also the infusion was maybe a good idea on paper but if I want to be a fire mage why would I want to spec into cold damage just to press more buttons and get less over all split damage?

Fireball is SOOOOOOOOOO dogshit it's crazy
I had to use fire bolt (staff auto attack) to even have a chance to kill the act 2 boss and it took like 10min. like the whole fight im thinking what do the devs want spellcasters to do here? i hope they address this on video. also my whole tree is specced into dmg nodes and all the supports i was using were more damage multipliers still impossible to kill the boss with fireball living bomb
spell casters are definitely weak early on (and yeah, infusions are kinda dumb)
Some elements are just better than others for leveling.

Fire is definitely not good for leveling.
Solar Orb needs to be a baseline skill again that has a somewhat high chance to spew out a fire infusion everytime it pulses. If they wanted to continue with infusions, that is. I think Fireball was the only spell that had power stripped from it only to be returned with an infusion.

Fire also needs some love in the crit % department.
