0.3.1 best patch by far

tower gone = good.

Im not arguing the towers were good and i want them back. They are a garbage system in a bad design atlas.

This patch is a worst change for an already bad system. They just made scuffed POE1 scarabs cuz they dont know what to do. And they removed the Rare mobs icons wich was a quality of life. The incompetence is tru the roof

this is a cute little summary.

im ok with it being the general thought process post.

towers were not good. and still arent.
the atlas design is not good.
the patch is a bad change, to a bad system.
they did introduce scarabs... again.
they did remove icons/qol.
and they atm. are incompetent from my perspective.

nice. little. summary.

You had to run 6 modded maps to even get a tower to give you 3 tablet slots before

Correct, but you only had to do it once for the tower. Once the towers are activated with the tablets, you can then run the maps unID or ID with less mods.

This is no longer an option.

Good, as far as I am concerned thats reaping too much reward with next to no risk.

Thats part of POE's identity.

PoE's identity?

PoE 1 let you run maps super juiced or unID and still gave you 6 portals. Your punishment if the map smears you is that you lose 10-60% of your exp. All you get in PoE2 is that if you die once, you need to do a "walk of shame" through an empty map just to move forward in the atlas.

So if we're talking about PoE's identity, what we have now is far from that.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Risk reward in POE2

POE2 established:

"You need to run 6 modded maps to get 3 tablet slots"

Back when towers were a thing.

Now that you have a tower on each map, it is staying consistent with that identity.

Want juice from 3 tablets? Run 6 mods

Cant do that?

Run less then.

Im starting to doubt that your 10k ES build was "pretty tanky" in a previous conversation, if you cant handle 6 mod maps.....

Just saying.

You said PoE's identity, not PoE2's identity.

Let's not forget GGG already backpedaled on the no revive stance back in 0.1.0, because it was stupid then as it is now.

First of all, that's irrelevant to the topic.

Secondly, just because a build is pretty tanky, doesn't mean its immune to sudden damage spikes that chunk almost all of it without warning. It's the basis for why I think armor and evasion should be buffed instead of nerfing ES, because if I'm barely surviving sudden unseen damage spikes, I can only imagine what's happening to players with 2-5k life.

Unlike most people, I like to think in the long term. Let's assume ES gets nerfed in the near future, say 0.4.0, it sure would be nice to not lose a map to 1shots.

Lastly, tell me who benefits from being forced to run through a failed map. All the bonus content it had is gone and you can't use tablets again. What you're doing at this point is literally wasting time to complete it so you can reach whatever map is sitting behind it.

This patch sucks, but the endgame sucks altogether. The random map needs to go.
Lets not forget the magic thing.

EARLY ACCESS

Early Access is a chance for them to test systems, drop chances, new uniques and skills. In a nutshell things are going to change, things will from time to time be broken. We only got like 1/3rd of the total (game) or the "Vision" at this current moment. When 1.0 comes out feel free to judge the full (vision).

I have 1650 Life and just finished T3 Simulacrum last night for my last pinnacle points. Definitely feel like a significant buff to my defenses at this point would make the game pretty boring.

I'm just going out on a limb here but I would say the beneficiary in this scenario is the player who is trying to access the map sitting behind it.
with it's power creep and brain-washed trivalized gameplay i think even more.. they stepped on blizzard ground to make "The best dad gamer friendly game" with so much power that we don't already need use any synergies during even campain.

You forgot the most critical part of Early Access. Player feedback. Players have every right to say that changes are the wrong direction, because that's a huge part of Early Access.

It is our job as Early Access players to tell GGG they are on the wrong path. If you do not understand that, you do not truly understand the purpose of Early Access. The player feedback is one of the most fundamental pieces.
