The problem with defences.
The ES problem is mostly that life isn't on the tree, but ES is.
Frankly, ES is about the strongest in POE 1 as well -- that's not a mistake, it's by design. That said... Without life on the tree, it's very hard to go the life route. |

Armour is in a decent place. Just have to get enough of it but thats very much achievable. Dont assume these 3 defenses solve all problems though. You still need to get charms and reduced crit damage taken, stun immunity/threshold besides it and the res. Then there is also things like block and freezing that help a bit. Learn the damage types and how to build defenses around them. The game gives us the tools needed.

ES isn't the king of defense, evasion/ES and armour are more tanky
You need a really big pool of ES if you are going pure as even a white pack can destroy a 14k pool in a couple of seconds if you can't get away I have every recharge start node available to me on the tree as well as a big chunk on my boots and I have 1.2s recharge start Convalescence is a clutch skill but it needs to wait until your currently cast spell has completed which can impact the 0.2s between survival and death, also has a >20s cooldown ES regen has no comparison to life regen, with enough armour (50k?) you can ignore most everything except the biggest hits and your life fills up a second, and can flask through degens If you're screen clearing everything then of course pure evasion is going to feel weak in comparison to ES but if you're in the melee evasion goes a long way to helping the recharge start downside Dernière édition par Strangehill#1736, le 29 sept. 2025 à 06:35:22

" True, but i dont believe that only adding life nodes to the tree will sold the root of the problem, since no ES builds will have to allocate a lot of points just to become viable. And if they make the nodes too strong even the ES builds will take it, making ES builds even better. That's why i suggested a rework for armour and evasion. |
