Shade Walker is too much damage

7k life net regen dies every time

Please do something about this. Lots of armor on melee, lots of regeneration, all completely useless. If I do not see the rare spawning with this mod before approaching (and in the mess of abyss spawning dozens of enemies and multiples of rare mobs it is easy to miss) I'm just dead, no way around it. Even if I kill the rare almost instantly, I'm dead to ground effect that for some reason remains after mob's death.

Edit--
All right, died twice more on juiced 0 revives maps, that I can easily clear besides shade walkers. I think I'm done till the patch that removes this bullshit or next league. I don't want to reroll ranged just because of this.

+ It needs to be nerfed more, I have Chapy with 75% fire res and 85% chaos res 1,6k HP 2,8k ES and that thing melts me in less then a second.
Also chaos leech with Original sin is buggy AF, it is roll of the dice if it works or not.
Also combo playstyle is out of question for this mob
The damage type of the puddle is actually physical.

It deals physical damage over time.

Resists and armor wont do anything about the damage at all.

You can reduce the damage with "additional physical damage reduction" stat found on shields or whatever other source of that there is.

note: physical damage reduction will not work. physical damage reduction is a different stat to additional physical damage reduction. physical damage reduction applies to hits only, additional physical damage reduction will apply to all physical damage, including bleeds or other physical damage over time like the shade walker pool.

technically there is no such thing as a "physical damage reduction" stat in the game which is why it works like that. There is Armor which will reduce physical damage from hits, and "additional physical damage reduction" - "Physical damage reduction" is just an estimation of how your armor is performing, and varies on the size of a hit, but is not a real stat on its own. "additional physical damage reduction" can be thought of as synonymous with "physical resistance"

the only other way to make it survivable is more raw HP/ES or some other form of general damage over time reduction (not sure if there is any). I believe damage taken from mana before life would also help.

The puddle also disables recovery (not just regen), so leech/regen and even life flasks are disabled why you are in it.

Also it disables (but consumes) resurgence omen.

Damage conversion like infernalist (25% physical to chaos) should work but again, there is virtually no mitigation for physical damage aura/dot aside stuff like mind over matter (which is effectively an extended health pool that can scale). Armor, loyalty support get, catalyst, and friends work only versus hits.

If (when) I level up again, I might try to experiment with heartstopper (that's the DoT reduction) - the 1st second of 50% more damage however seems exceptionally punishing for non-massive ES builds, though - so maybe not.

My personal solution is 'fast' reflexes (erm) and disengage (with knockback and holy descent)

The damage is abolutely insane. Even with 10% additional physical damage reduction on top of 35K armour I still get killed within a second. I can sometimes dodge roll out of it, but if I need a second dodge roll I'm 100% dead. Also, I can't see the debuff on the floor because of all the stuff that's going on.

Honestly, I've just stopped playing because of this. This is impossible as a melee character.
Absolutely 100% agree. This makes Warrior unfun because there is no outpacing the damage even with life regen and leech and I'm also running 90% armour with a ton of elm resist% of armour. Nerf this POS
I hope they give it a longer cooldown. Would feel less of a slog fighting these.
I usually don't complain about difficult content but in this case I actually agree this mod is over-tuned. It doesn't feel challenging it just feels unfair.

I am not a fan of heavily damaging mechanics that have no, or extremely limited counterplay and aren't also obscenely telegraphed (This is in the same vein as drowning orbs from river hags).

What would make shade walker feel more fair - more telegraphing, like a noise on the arrival of a monster with the mod, sound cues for when it's about to teleport (obviously with a delay, so you have time to hear the noise), and easier to see the ground effect, and making the OLD puddle immediately despawn when the monster creates a new one.

Disabling ALL recovery methods feels a bit heavy handed for the amount of degen as well.

Honestly even if they deleted it from the game I wouldn't be too upset.

Same for drowning orbs.

5.5k life pool gets instantly vaporized by this modifier. It's absolute insanity and I don't even have any time to react before I'm dead. It's quite literally the only mechanic in the game that feels truly, downright, completely unfair.
