PoE 2 is turning into PoE1 eventually...

It's probably gonna turn in to that. I just fail to understand why exactly they can't just check what PoE1 was in 2012 and build poe2's loot and maybe pace from that. I just can't.... It was very good the problem back then was that there was tech issues like desync crashes and FPS drops like crazy. Nothing like today. But other than that the economy was very good except maybe the divine-swap and a bit of benches.

Speed up game play ?! Finally !!! 👍😃 that is good news and loot please

you already have many other low-brain-effort cookie-clickers like D4, LE and POE1, why do you need another?

it's just the game's current course. they haven't designed a combat system, it's the same haphazard smattering of skills, some of which combo, like in PoE1. it just looks better.

and on top of that the current jeweller orb system stifles experimentation and gatekeeps the circumstantial use of additional abilities for most builds. your 6 link is better than your 4-5 link in almost all situations and it's a big risk to 6 socket a skill you may just dislike the game feel of.

the arpg randomness and power scaling undermines and or prevents the gratification that can come from 'skillful' play because set piece encounters can be trivialized and the difficulty resulting from the random placement of random mobtypes of random rarity with random modifiers can create a delta so large it's unrelatable.
(when players clear Dark Souls, or get their first kill on a raid boss, they more or less overcame the same level of challenge).

I could go on.
I wish the combat was different, it's mostly everything else I dislike.

the 'high-effort' combat you like just clashes with ARPG design tropes... how meaningful can the combat be in perpetuity when the purpose/reason you're doing it is inherently nebulous?

If I'm stupid and my memory fails me, didn't Jonathan himself say that at some point we would reach the level of PoE1 but they try postpone it as long as they can? Why is anyone surprised by that, or why do they have expectations, when even GGG knows how this is going to end?

Nobody bought EA supporter pack to fund PoE 1 again

We bought a supporter pack because we were all sick of PoE 1

GGG made PoE 2 because they couldn't make the changes they wanted in PoE 1 because yall were crying (3.15? 3.17?)

Anyways, nobody is arguing about the speed, wether it is slow or fast it doesn't matter, that is not the point, you can have a good combat system with any of them

The problem is in PoE 2, the combat system doesn't matter since the outcome of any of your attack is to obliterate the screen all at once.., this by itself makes the discourse of slow vs fast pointless, the core issue is elsewhere, it lies in both Combat/Skill/EnemyAI, the people in charge of these domains don't know how to take advantage of both WASD and the insane Art

Just take a look at Rake, it only got one basic animation

If GGG doesn't put melee as its pillar core design, nothing will ever change

PoE 2 gameplay = Vampire Survivor

But i fear that the damage is already done..

Revisionists are winning, and we only have Jon to blame..

I believe in GGG, but they don't seem to care

It all comes down to what people find rewarding: constant fireworks or having to put in the effort to achieve your goal. The latter is much more fun to me, especially when playing with a controller and having the haptic feedback..

I wouldn’t call PoE2 a true Souls-like, but it is certainly much closer to that than D4. Elden Ring has been a top seller for years, and it’s still at the top when it comes to sales. If PoE2 aligns with D4 and similar games, I’m afraid it will have a much harder time.

The player loss likely has to do with the lack of 3 acts. I refrain from making characters because I don’t want to waste time starting over in Cruel & there are definitely things to fix, like getting one-shot is frustrating, and some Ritual Area are covered with trees, making it barely possible to move... Also, having to trade to kill a boss isn't necessarily ideal either ...

GGG marketing during PoE 2 dev => marketing brags about methodical and tactical combat -> leads to successful EA launch

PoE 1 brained people after 6months => sharing video of blasting, triple screen explosions -> leads to player count dropping and lack of new players, and they pretend game is successful thanks to them, AHAHHAHAHA

Ya Understand GGG?

People are posting video content of the trash combat online, as as a result new players don't find the game interesting

PoE 2 closer to a Souls? HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAH, nice joke

PoE 2 doesn't play like a souls, like AT ALL, not even in Act 1

Souls plays like a Fighting Game in a Medieval Fantasy RPG setting, it's all physical/animation/frame based

In Souls, you fight enemies one at a time, you dance with them, they react to your hits, and your character reacts to their hits, it's impactful, weighty and rewards your skills as a player

PoE 2 is about name locking and blasting through screens packs to packs

Play elden ring, go find a wolf pack and compare their behavior to PoE 2's wolves in Act 1, you'll see how stupid the combat in PoE 2 is

Or even try No Rest for the Wicked, that is an ARPG with a souls combat

But PoE 2? haha, check the video I shared just above, PoE 2 plays like a Vampire Survivor clone

PoE 2 doesn't even have melee combat, it's all ranged combat or hit the ground and expect explosions type shit

I'm very critical about PoE 2, deserved critics, but yall are blinded by your selfishness and your fanboysm, you idolize the trash PoE 1 became after 10y of power creep and bloat

And you try to make it sounds like it's successful EA launch is all due to you.. you have some big balls

Vampire Survivor 2: https://old.reddit.com/r/PathOfExile2/comments/1lz36ie/finally_mapping_lvl_65/

It looks nothing like an ARPG

Argumentation, doesn't work

Using factual data, doesn't work

Sharing experience, doesn't work

Be like RaizQT, say that you hate PoE 1 combat, say that you love PoE 2, say that the methodical and tactical gameplay is awesome, say "i love my buttons", then play 1 button warcry build the whole league

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
