Volatile plants visibility.
Maybe it's just me, but I oftentimes have a huge pile of loot labels on the screen, so much that I can hardly see anything else, and while I look for anything worth picking up or sort my inventory, suddenly my character just dies.
A silent volatile plant out of nowhere killed it while I had my inventory open. Just now I did a max difficulty simulacrum, and I had never seen even a single volatile plant there before, imagine my shock when I suddenly went from 100 to zero long after every enemy of the wave was dead, with my inventory open... This just seems like a middle finger to the player. Dernier bump le 12 mai 2025 à 17:54:42

And frankly volatile plants just suck. To me it's the "just keep running around in circles pointlessly all the time, because if you ever stand still you might just instantly die from something you didn't notice" modifier.

And then of course there's suddenly getting swarmed and body blocked by crowds, or blocked by non-obvious impassable terrain (or a combination of both), and then getting oneshot by plants you were narrowly avoiding.
While this is rarely a problem for me, when it happens it also feels very bad. Maybe they could *not* instantly oneshot the player and instead deal 50% HP or something? Or poison for 100% HP, at least then you can still heal. |

By the way I have over 3000 combined health and shields, and 23% chaos res (it's a very rare stat), is it intentional that I literally die instantly to being grazed by the explosion of a single plant that got triggered by my companion?

Even with the best possible gear in the game, I don't think this (evasion) character will be hitting either 50% chaos res, nor 4000 combined hp and energy shield. So I'll just have to get used to suddenly and unexpectedly dropping dead with no enemies around. Fun.

TBH since volatile plants oneshot me either way and always have, I don't even see the point of the chaos res stat in the game. The one chaos damage that you'll regularly encounter and would like to defend again oneshots me either way, making chaos res a nothing stat it seems.

So in summary, half of the time in this game there's up to 6 homing balls of instant death on the screen, and they're silent, and they are frequently invisible behind item labels, bodies, and effects (and especially excarvation labels).
At the same time your screen is (if you put the right modifiers on your maps) 50% flooded with enemy bodies, all running at you and throwing things and blasting and body blocking you. And at the same time, there's a lot of area denial happening. Fire hazards, tornadoes, telegraphed attacks. And at the same time, the screen is oftentimes 90% filled with item labels and excarvation labels. I really don't think those balls of instant death need to be there, given all the other circumstances. |

Chase the orbs, do not flee from them. Deciding when they go pop makes them much more manageable.
And unless chaos res is very low they shouldn't be 1 shotting characters. At 4.5k ES / 60% chaos res it takes 3 to kill my character. Turning off the labels by hitting Z is very handy when getting swarmed. The orbs are so bright now that no amount of enemies can obscure them. By the way it's 7 volatile plants on the screen, not 6. I took the time to count them just now since they are so common.

" So my character is in the lower right corner of the tree, there's no way I could get 4.5k ES. And gear with chaos res is very expensive (and even then it's around 20 res per piece, and as you can see a single piece of res gear does precisely nothing. |
