Broke down and installed Last Epoch

This morning I hit the wall and could not go on. The game is simply too punishing.

I had carefully found a Corrupt Nexus, navigated to the local towers to juice it up, carefully fought through 4 maps to get to it, crafted a T16 map with good mods, carefully completed the entire map, and killed the boss. One yellow drop for a crossbow which is useless.

At that point, the futility of playing this game became inescapable.

1 - The risk/reward for playing challenging content is too horrible. I only die due to game mechanics I cannot do anything about - stunlock, damage spikes, off-screen enemies and bugs. I lose FAR too much progress when I die.

2 - Even if I dont die, there's no reward. There's nothing that can drop that is exciting. I swear, even a unique Stellar Amulet would not produce any excitement.

I've leveled 3 different characters to T15 maps, and none of them have any kind of reward for playing. The game is only about punishment.

I'd suggest to change the title since your post is nothing about LE.

You play games for the gameplay. If the only you thing you want is cool stuff then I am sorry but loot games with RNG are probably not really for you. I'm not trying to mean however, It's not the end of the world to RR and play through the campaign with a different build for a different experience. If you really only want loot, there are more than enough ARPG's to include PoE1 that have crazy loot rewards.

The point of this game is to be challenging and require you to pay close attention. It wasn't intended for people to get 50 maps an hour done or super juice one map and then be rich forever. They wanted to clearly deviate from PoE1 sufficiently enough to capture a specific experience similar to more old school arpg's with near infinite progression and lots of iterative changes to get there as opposed to just getting the best stuff and finishing the league in a week.

Totally agree with you.
But you have to admit that, as of now, the very endgame needs improvement. It's pretty tedious to set up 2/3 towers, map crafting is time-consuming , breach splinter x1 .....

need more contents to fully enjoy it , so wait and see !
I'd say that you are quite right. The end game is really lacking. However, I have a conspiracy theory.

I think they wanted this game to be way more campaign heavy and they felt an obligation to somehow bring the PoE1 end game, on some level, into the game.

If I was king. You'd finish the campaign with the last boss area at level 80 and the boss would be 83. All bases would drop by the end of the campaign. I'd have more variety of areas with more randomness. I'd force players to re-farm bosses and areas to be prepared for "end game". I'd make the campaign more arcade and leaderboard friendly. I'd have times and leaderboards for quests, areas, acts, etc. I'd make the end game entirely different than poe1. I'd love to look at the leaderboards and see what builds beat what bosses first every league.

I feel like it's two games. Campaign is a 9/10 and end game is not that high and I don't want to be particularly rude and honest here but it's not a good number from me.

I think the glaring issues can be resolved slightly differently than the average person would thing would help.

For example, I think curses should cursed ground patches not global for waystones. I think DoT on the ground should stack the longer you stand on them so they don't do so much damage so quickly. I'd like the campaign to be way longer feeling and require more grinding between areas and didn't try to accommodate zoomers so much. I would have maybe 7 tiers of waystones. Level of areas would be determined by a affix. For example, Tier1 waystone can only go up to +2 levels and where T7 can have monster levels 90+ (+10 levels). I'd make precursor tablets have up to 6 rare mods and only one type with content enhancements being as a mod and not as an implicit. (aka consolidate precursors) I'd consolidate omens and charms. Omens would drop as currency and I'd bring back the crafting bench. You have to use gold + currency + omen tokens (or w/e) to get the benefits of crafting with omens. I think it's too much clicking to get 2 ex slams. pull the omen, activate it, get the ex, slam. It feels bland. It doesn't feel like crafting. The sounds are as good as a crafting bench. I'd have regal shards drop more in campaign. I'd have regal shards purchasable in the campaign with going up in gold price per successive one you buy.

I can go on for days on what would really fix some of the end game jankyness and hairiness.

I think zoomers and content creators are siphoning GGG's original vision and it's showing in the end game. They clearly made the bread and butter of the game the campaign. I think end game is supposed to be optional. it's supposed to be for overachievers.

I'm not sure how much of my stuff resonates but you're just right rn. The end game needs so much help. It's very cluttery which gives me a freaking headache for real.

I hope they focus on the campaign. I don't want new leagues and blight. I want act 7 chapter 1, then chapter 2, etc. I want leagues to be new acts in the campaign all level 80 areas.
I completely agree with you that the campaign plays a damn important role in PoE 2.
You can feel they poured their heart, ambitions, expectations, and challenges into it-and then some. It’s honestly a success so far; these first 3 acts are already, in my opinion, one of the best campaigns in any ARPG, period.

So why not amplify that experience as you suggest? It could be really fun. I also agree with you about the endgame and its issues-it’s hard for me to reconcile these two entities, given how much their 'character' and 'gameplay' differ."
I think we are in the same boat here. We want more of that deliberate campaign play and not this rushed glass cannon farm play.

I guess I'm old school and want to farm the same boss in an area 150 times for a super rare unique you know? Sigh, i'm dying metaphorically from the ARPG community.

Also, I think the campaign is just proof of the growth they made since day 1 poe1 and now.

If you don't mind terribly, I think we had a good convo and it's hidden behind a rage baity kind of title. Would you mind terribly changing it or was that the point? xd?
Change your ragebait title please
Tech guy
It's not rage. It's complete and utter frustration, after sticking with the game for 5 months. I've been strongly resisting installing another game because I have kept hoping this one would get better. But it hasnt.

I'm a huge GGG fan from POE1. I thought POE1 was one of the best games ever made, and still to this day think it's brilliant.

But I cant keep going in this game. At least not now.
