(Not Having Fun In SSF) White/Normal Mobs Health In T1 Maps Need MASSIVE Decrease.

I'll preface this by saying I play Ruthless in POE1 and have played POE since around 2012'ish. I'm not a new player and am very familiar with 'POE-Style' game mechanics. I am not asking GGG to make the game easier, just less tedious.

My build is a strength stacking homebrew Gemling Merc (the build itself is fun). My main skillgems in POE2 are listed below.

Clearing trash/Breaking armour,
Armour Piercing Rounds: Life Thief + Chain + Martial Tempo

Vs Magics/Rares/Uniques,
High Velocity Rounds: Double Barrel + Lightning Infusion + Deliberation

For AOE,
Explosive Grenades: Expedite + Scatter Shot + Inevitable Critical

Defensive/Mixed,
Blasphemy + Enfeeble + Precision + Magnified Effect
Tamed Beast (Alpha Primate with Haste Aura) + Meat Shield + Elemental Army

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was doing great in SSF in POE2 up until I hit maps. Now it seems that the normal mobs health in T1 maps has jumped up significantly from the campaign, making each map a slow-crawl chore. I can complete the maps, but it is aggravating. I am level 71 in a lvl 65 zone and I feel like I hit like a wet noodle with a 3 suf/pref + rune juiced rare crossbow. It is almost unbearable. I know what some people might suggest, for me to go 'trade league' and min/max my gear or build. However, I prefer playing SSF and finding my own gear.

You could buff the hp of rares/magic mobs by 15-20% and I wouldn't mind at all; but for the love of all things gamer related, please consider nerfing the health of normal mobs by at least 35-45%. Getting swarmed by fast moving and 'very chonky' normal mobs is not fun at all. The Vaal Vaults or w/e it is called is one of the worst offenders. I even use armor breaking ammunition and explosive grenades against packs of normal mobs, and it still feels like it takes forever for them to die. Some packs die in a few seconds, but the vast majority take at least 8-15 seconds (for me).

I am not having fun in maps; it is so boring having to spend 8-15 seconds clearing each pack of trash mobs. I can only stomach 1-2 maps a day, whereas in POE1 I would chain maps no problem.

SSF player here, I made 3 characters :
- fire mage using ember, detonade dead in 0.1
- monk ice in 0.1
- huntress using thunderous leap and primal strikes in 0.2

On my 3 characters, I personnaly never found T1 map really harder than end of act 3 cruel.
And I really know your feeling but for me, when I hit a "wall" in maps, its always because of my stuff and my build.
Maybe you need to use your ressources (gold with alva, essences,...) to craft a better weapon if the issue is about your damage.

But with my all 3 characters, I never had this feeling in SSF than I hit a wall in T1 map... The only thing that could make it harder in my opinion, its about chaos damage because I have the feeling ennemies on maps are doing a lot more chaos dmg

I really appreciate you posting your feedback here as well. I believe it is important to get a balanced perspective from other players and what they're experiencing. I do believe even with better gear that the normal mobs are way overtuned and make the maps feel like a chore more than a fun dungeon crawling experience. The emphasis here is on it being fun, and I don't find the current monster health pools for normal mobs enjoyable at their current levels (for me personally). If I'm not having fun, I'm spending far less time in the game than I otherwise would as a direct result.

I haven't hit a wall and am able to complete T1 maps, it just feels tedious and unfun because of the extra-chonky normal mobs with fast movement speed. While even better gear might slightly alleviate this problem, I still feel like normal monsters need a massive decrease in health. If GGG wants to buff other aspects of the game to compensate for that, I have no problem with that. This is still an 'Early Access' game, so radically changing things around and experimenting with development ideas is entirely appropriate.

SSF only here.

Level 80 - Chronomancer - custom lightning/ice sorceress - in 0.1
Level 77 - Witchhunter - custom Mercenary with Arctic armor and Companion - in 0.2

Well, my sorc is doing T5 maps, while my Merc so far only T2, although he has much stable consistent DPS. (both have 3rd ascendancy done)
My problem is I have crafted crossbow at level 48, and till now (level 77) I didnt find any better or can craft any beter.
Having 5 very good stats on weapon from 6, is very hard to replace.
Im waiting for real CRAFTING, not gambling systems in future patches.

I think its imporant "your" build gives you fun to play it.
It doesnt matter if you are doing T1 maps or T16 maps. Like who cares.
Fun is the only good factor.

SSF all the way as well.

0.1 L96 Minion Infernalist. Got bored of how slow the endgame progression got (Ritual, Arbiter fragments, etc).

02. Started as Minion Lich and switch to ED/C to beat the Act 2 boss. Threw the towel in early maps. I hope future patches bring major changes from what we have now. If a damage skill, with its supports, cannot reasonably clear, why does it exist?
T1 maps is not bad because you have all the skills you need and supports.
CAMPAIGN on the other hand needs gigantic nerfs lol.. like do a FRESH league start build, no gold, no premade gear, no idea what a good build is to follow.
It is HORRIBLE to play the campaign, it will drag up to 20hours for an experienced player to complete.. insanely long specially that you have to redo the same content 2x.. it feels horrible because good support gems are 10hours away and so are the better skills sometimes when they start to unlock lvl35-60 range.. thats stupid. ON TOP OF THAT you only have 2 sockets... 3link for a couple of skills until you hit maps is HORRRIBLE aswell, forget about 5links and 6link is like legit dropping a mirror in this game.

You want new players to enter your game, campaign needs to stay short and sweet and let you find the skills YOU want to play.. id say let all skills be available by the time you hit like level 18, mid ACT2 and supports the same.

Basicly nerf the campaign part to be easy for 90% of the playerbase and once you hit maps (like seriously can we dumpster waystone?? Nobody is calling them waystones) it should then start to ramp very hard from T1 to T16 by as much as 2x hp and damage of monsters per tier of maps. T16 maps should be only for those who have insanely good builds.

SSF ruthless enjoyer here too.

I found the same thing hitting maps. I'd breeze through white mobs in cruel but maps is taking me 2-3 hits each white mob. Add big maps on that and its pretty slow going. Rares take ages and that's fine but whites shouldn't.

Edit: still having fun though. The map design needs a lot of work but I'm sticking with it

After hours playing maps in SSF, I think your feeling about white mobs depends a lot of the type of mobs.

On some maps, you just have some very slow zombies and the main issue is the distance mobs that throw a lot of projectiles and can destroy you.

On other, you have mobs like gorillas, just rushing and jumping on you, and if you dont dodge roll, you can easily be stunned then die.

Depending on your build, stun threshold so life, evasion, armor, shield,... you would go through such ennemies easily or not.
For me, I find projectiles really harder to see and so, to dodge roll, than a big chunky boy than run to jump at me.

But yeah maybe they have to reduce life pool of white mob, but they have to increase life pool of boss in map for sure
