I did think of this too....then I decided to frame it and put it on my wall - the map, that is. It does look really good, right next to middle earth. :)



edit: kinda big, also middle earth appears to be really blurry today...

"Gem Catastrophe"?

I don't know why, but I imagine Oriath to be something like America. When people say 'America' they usually mean the USA, but it's also a continent. It's just that the US happens to be the biggest(not by land area, I know), most dominant nation on the continent. I suppose Oriath could be like Australia, too. At any rate, it's all speculation so far.

I picture Oriath to be some sort of Atlantis with a North Korean type leader ( no offense intended to any north Koreans if they can even get on these forums)

Although it's highly unlikely unlikely that she gets her troops by sea (and number of those troops is not so big logic-wise, I think we can safely divide by 10 the number of blackguards and miscreations we've seen there), I doubt that she makes portals between Oriath and Wraeclast.

Think about it: oriathans don't even kill criminals because they fear another gem catastrophe, would they use thaumaturgy and/or gems to make a connection to a blighted land? I don't think so. My long-shot guess would be that they transport troop to one of small islands near Oriath, and teleport them to Wraeclast from that point. Just for safety reasons.

IIRC, it's the reason of Eternal Empire's fall. You know, something went wrong with virtue gems, and all immortal gemlings went insane and slowly became monsters. Corruption of Merveil is the most detailed example so far.
It's actually quite an interesting topic, and I wish I knew true role of Gemling Queen in this event.
