Theopolis
Where is it? Can you show it on map?
We were banished from Oriath to Wraeclast by Dominus from Theopolis. So, Theopolis is not in Wraeclast? Judging by what Grigor said, our next grand prey is Dominus himself. So, we're making our way back to Oriath? No more zombies in act 4? :D |

Here's a map of Wraeclast. I wondered about it myself, but I noticed from the poster that Theopolis is a small island off the coast of Wraeclast. In the link, you can find Theopolis is in the bottom center of the map, to the right of our starting area (Act 1). I can't make it out very clearly, but Lioneye's Guard and Tidal Island are above some archipelago. =P So, Theopolis is definitely not around Oriath. I don't know the role of Theopolis in the plot... perhaps it's a colony or staging area for the Oriathans? I'm very interested in the lore of PoE, so I hope there will be more information and exploration inthe later acts. Dernière édition par Kawanoe#4907, le 9 mai 2013 à 15:25:22

Im very interested in the lore too, and it's a pity there is no sub-forum for its discussion (and some speculations).
That's a nice map, but the font is too unclear. If that's Theopolis on the island, isn't sign on the right of that island saying "Oriath"? So, basically, Oriath is the small island, and Theopolis is the only large city on it. |

=O
You're right; the font is unclear. I totally missed that! Hmm... I always assumed Oriath would be a bit... bigger? |

Becouse you think about all those exiles flooding that bigger continent Wreaclast.
Well, they just happen to make a lot of love back in Oriath. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drDs-Y5DNH8

Actually, prior to seeing this map I assumed that Oriath is another continent not so far from Wraeclast.
But if you think about it, Oriath being an island explains some points, banishing system (it's not so far from Wraeclast, after all, so journey is not THAT great) and how it was not affected that much by gem catastrophe. What it does not explain is what are we going to do to actually get to Oriath. I see no way besides by sea. And I'm perhaps repeating what I said earlier, but I thought that Oriath and Wraeclst are 2 big continents connected far away with something like Isthmus of Suez, and our goal was to return to Oriath through the wilderness from the very beginning. Well, I was wrong. And there is another problem with Oriath mentioned above: it's not affected by gem catastrophe. If we are going to return somehow, what are we going to fight besides blackguards? No zombies, no undying, no monstrosities, only humans, which is kind of... wrong. ...Or we'll find out that Dominus decided to take a business trip to Wraeclast. Bad decision, if you ask me. Can lead to premature death, you know, considering some exiles being able to raze entire armies. Scary stuff. |

There has to be a new map the old one doesn't even mention sarn.
Also I would love a map switch in game from Oldmap at the Pyramid to a zoomed version of Sarn. |

i always enjoyed reading charan`s posts on lore, i hope he will contribute to this thread.
i am also interested in lore cause it have so much potential cause of its song of ice and fire-ish feel, but unfortunately, seems that ggg takes it as an aftertought, at least for now. and they do have more pressing issues to deal with, so its in no way complain, but some lore sub-forum would be awesome and it could give them some ideas for its expansion also. A stranger like no otherther,

I had also assumed Oriath would be a continent far away. But since it's so close... wouldn't it have been funny if the ship that carried the exiles shipwrecked and they woke up back on the shores of Oriath instead? xD
I agree that GGG has other priorities. Hopefully the last part of Act 3 and Act 4 will have more clues. I enjoy unravelling the back story, Dark Souls style. |

" Although the distance between Oriath and Wraeclast on the map is not that big, the distance is not of a lake-size (you know, exiles would just swim back in this case), but of a sea. To actually have a chance to get to Oriath after shipwreck the ship must sink near Oriath, otherwise it's not going to happen. Waters around Oriath are surely better explored, have no sirens ready to eat you and tea party with corsairs is less likely. So, yeah, judging by what we know, if the ship sinks, it's always near Wraeclast. |
